Acura NSX Type S 2022.

The first Acura NSX Type S 2022 sold at a charity auction for $1.1 million.

That’s about six times more than the automaker’s stated «retail» price. The auction was organized by the auction house Mecum.

At the auction in Monterey this weekend, one of the copies of the limited «farewell» series Acura NSX Type S was sold.

Its new owner did not spare the impressive sum of $1 million for the very first copy of the novelty.

This is not only the first NSX Type S that was sold outside of Japan, but also one of the few 350 cars of the last series of the electrified supercar.

The new owner of the supercar will have complete freedom to choose the specification of the car.

So it doesn’t necessarily have to settle for the Gotham Grey Matte Metallic finish that 70 limited edition supercars will receive.

VIN # 001 will come with an additional lightweight package: these include carbon-ceramic brakes, a glossy carbon fiber engine cover and carbon fiber interior décor.

These additions, which make the car 26 kg lighter, are priced at $13,000.

If you’re wondering who the lucky buyer is, it’s none other than Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and founder of Hendrick Automotive Group.

He has agreed to pay about six times the price of the 2022 Acura NSX Type S with a lightweight package ($182,500), with all proceeds going to charities.

The money will go to support science, technology and engineering, as well as young professionals in the arts and math.

As a reminder, the 2017 NSX VIN # 001 was also sold at a charity auction in January 2016 through the Barrett-Jackson auction house.

The original second-generation NSX car sold for $1.2 million and was bought by the same Rick Hendrick.

The Acura NSX Type S was the farewell version of the sports car.

Honda Motor has unveiled the Acura NSX Type S, a farewell special edition of its flagship sports car. Production of this modification will continue until December 2022.

It is planned to build 350 copies: 300 — for the USA market, 30 — for Japan and 20 — for the rest of the world.

The power of the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 has increased from 507 to 527 hp and torque from 550 to 600 Nm.

This was achieved by using new turbochargers from the racing NSX GT3 Evo, more productive injectors and a larger intercooler.

In the hybrid system NSX engineers increased the battery capacity by 20% and its ultimate return — 10%, allowing the three electric motors to consume more energy (exact data is not published).

As a result, the unit totals 608 hp and 667 Nm (+27 hp and +22 Nm compared to the regular NSX).

The nine-speed robot has learned to shift into higher gear 50% faster. All-wheel drive system Sport Hybrid SH-AWD now controls the vector of traction more accurately, which helped to increase the speed of passing corners.

Japanese brand engineers reconfigured all four driving modes (Quiet, Sport, Sport+ and Track), and updated the calibration of the adaptive suspension.

Especially for NSX Type S issued Pirelli P-Zero tires size 245/35ZR19 in front and 305/30ZR20 in rear.

Acura does not publish information about acceleration dynamics or top speed.

But we know that thanks to the improvements the NSX Type S passes the Japanese Suzuka track for two seconds faster than the standard NSX.

In the U.S. the base price of sports car will make $169,500 (=12.5 million rubles).

For additional $ 13,000 (= 956,000 rubles) is offered to buy the Lightweight Package, which includes carbon-ceramic brakes Brembo, carbon fiber engine cover and inserts in the cabin of the same material.

These elements allow reducing weight by 26.2 kg.

Recall, the second-generation Acura NSX has been produced since 2016. The car is produced in the state of Ohio.
