AirCar is a flying car. At last! The first video of a truly flying AirCar.

AirCar features retractable fenders and retractable tail sections, and the transition from road to flight mode takes less than a minute.

We have already seen many designs of flying cars that have never seen the sky or the road. They are too ugly, dangerous and useless to be commercially successful.

Nonetheless, a man named Stefan Klein presented very promising proof of the possibility of a truly reliable flying car.

The project was named AirCar. It allows the driver to quickly switch from road to air mode with the push of a button.

At the push of a button, the fenders slide out of the special compartments, without the driver and passenger even having to get out of the car.

But extending the wings is only the first step. The tail also slides back to provide optimal flight performance.

While the vehicle does look much better than any other flying car we’ve seen, it still fails to camouflage itself on the road. Sure, being able to hide the fenders under the body line is a big win, but it’s hard to ignore the massive propeller and tail at the rear.

Designers and constructors still have many questions to solve before flying cars look like normal cars on the road, and like planes in the sky.

More recently, another flying car, the PAL-V Liberty, received a certificate allowing it to travel on public roads.

And this is a huge step for the development of such a technique. AirCar has it all ahead. In the meantime, the race of the creators of flying cars continues.
