Top Continental in the back of a convertible. The Bentley Continental GT Convertible sets new standards for craftsmanship, elegance and style.
Designed and hand-assembled at the Bentley plant in England, it delivers a completely new Gran Turismo cabriolet experience.
Following the premiere of the Bentley Continental GT Speed coupe, the British presented a similar version of the model in the back of a convertible. Visually, the novelty differs from a closed two-door only in the absence of a roof and a spoiler blade at the stern.
The rest of the convertible is identical to the previously shown coupe. It has the same black decor and brand nameplates, and the wheels are fitted with 22-inch wheels.
The main feature of the Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible is the soft convertible top made of a special multi-layer material.
According to the developers, in terms of the level of sound insulation, such a roof is comparable to the roof of a coupe of the previous generation, which means that the cabin should be quite quiet.
Interestingly, the convertible top can be ordered in one of seven different shades, including traditional British tweed. As for the transformation process, the roof can be folded or unfolded at speeds up to 50 km / h, and this procedure takes 19 seconds.
In terms of technology, the presented convertible is completely identical to a similar coupe. The Continental GTC Speed convertible is powered by a 6.0-liter W12 turbo engine with 659 hp. (900 Nm) with half-cylinder shut-off function at low loads.
It works in tandem with an eight-speed preselective robot, in which the gear change time is halved (compared to a conventional Continental). From a place to a hundred, the top convertible is capable of accelerating in 3.7 seconds (+ 0.1 compared to the coupe), and its top speed is 335 km / h.
The sports car is equipped with a fully steerable chassis and electronically controlled rear differential lock eLSD, which are not allowed for the base cars. Also, the most powerful version of the model boasts special settings for the adaptive chassis and active stabilizers.
As for the brakes, there are ten-piston calipers at the front, and four-piston calipers at the rear. For a surcharge, you can order carbon-ceramic movements. Taking orders for the Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible has already started, although the cars will not go on sale until the summer of the twenty-first.

EFFECTIVE DESIGN WITH SWIMMED ROOF
A car of this class has to be incredibly streamlined to cut through the air and look great. Bentley’s designers have gone to great lengths to ensure that the exterior and interior blend seamlessly when the top is folded down.
The quick-fold mechanism lowers the roof well below the centerline of the body. Thanks to this, the designers managed to get a beautiful line that seems to «grow» out of the side panels and bends around the rear seats in a continuous smooth arc.
