It would seem that two years ago, Bugatti had already released the Chiron Super Sport 300+ — a special version close to the record car, which was able to develop more than 300 miles per hour (483 km / h) in tests, which is reflected in the index.

It is assumed that commercial vehicles with special training and a disabled limiter could repeat this achievement, but only 30 of them were made at a price of 3.5 million euros without taxes.

And now the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport coupe is presented — already without the «300+» prefix. And in fact, this is not a new version, but just an additional edition.

Like two years ago, the «supersport» Chiron has a body with a modified profile of the sidewalls and a stern lengthened by 25 cm.

Such a tail plays the role of a stabilizer for air flows, and a large diffuser also increases downforce, so that the hidden wing leaves on command of the electronics only if necessary, and is not used during races at maximum speed.

The nine holes in each front fender are not so much a styling as the Nineties Bugatti EB 110 SS supercar, but an important tool.

Air from the front wheels exits through these channels, which also allows for increased downforce. The four tailpipes of the exhaust system protrude from the body to minimize the impact of hot exhaust gases on aerodynamics.

The Super Sport version is 23 kg lighter than the base Chiron, although against the general background these are crumbs.

The W16 engine with four turbochargers is boosted from the standard 1500 to 1600 «horses», and the cutoff is shifted from 6800 to 7100 rpm.

The seven-speed preselective «robot» has revised gear ratios.

For example, the top seventh gear is made 3.6% longer: when accelerating to the floor, the gearbox turns it on at a speed of 403 km / h.

Chassis settings have been optimized, and special Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires with a reinforced carcass have been installed, capable of withstanding speeds of up to 500 km / h.

But just with a speed, a bad luck came out: the limiter of the new version of Super Sport is set to the same 440 km / h as that of the special model Super Sport 300+, while there is no longer any possibility of races on the high-speed loop of the Volkswagen concern with the speech limiter removed.

The acceleration time to 100 km / h is 2.4 s, the coupe takes a threshold of 200 km / h in 5.8 s, and reaches 300 km / h in 12.1 s.

But the price of the new version is slightly lower — “only” 3.2 million euros excluding taxes.

Delivery of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport commodity coupes is scheduled for early 2022.
