Chevrolet Blazer 2022. The Chevrolet Blazer crossover will lose the base engine, but it will sparkle with new colors.

The 2022 SUV will be available in the home market with two engines to choose from. The design will be changed only for the top-end configuration, and even then only slightly.

The Chevy cross with a length of 4862 mm, for which the Blazer name was revived, debuted in 2018, sales started in the homeland of the brand in 2019.

That year was not particularly successful for SUVs in the States: only 58,115 units were sold. But in 2020, the Chevrolet Blazer sold 94,599 copies.

But according to the results of January-March of this year (the GM concern publishes its report once a quarter), the SUV is in the red: 19,265 customers chose it, which is 13% less than a year earlier.

For comparison, the Ford Edge gained 22,150 owners in the US over the same period (-25%), and the result, for example, Jeep Cherokee — 37,923 units (+ 13%).

It’s still early days for a full facelift for the Blazer, and yet the 2022 model year will bring some news.
In general, the brand has not yet sent out a separate press release dedicated to SUVs, but a leaflet with the changes has appeared on the American Chevrolet press site.

The main thing is that in the home market Blazer will lose the base gasoline «aspirated» 2.5 with a capacity of 194 hp.

Thus, the cross will be available with two engines to choose from: the former 2.0 turbo four (it appeared in the model range at the end of 2019) and the naturally aspirated V6 3.6, which produce 233 and 310 hp. respectively.

The Chevrolet Blazer will still be offered with a nine-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

«Simple» configurations L and 1LT will disappear from the lineup along with the 2.5 engine. For the now initial version of the 2LT, as well as for the 3LT and the «sporty» RS variant, it will be possible to order a black roof.

The top Blazer Premier is promised a different decor and new design wheels. In addition, the palette of body colors has been replenished with yellow and blue «metallic»

Since the cheapest versions will be removed, then in Chevy they will be able to legally declare that the Safety Assist package is now standard (it was in 2LT, 3LT, RS and Premier and before), it includes automatic braking, frontal collision avoidance, and in the lane and automatic switching of headlights.

As before, the cross also has by default a multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen and a rear-view camera, and RS and Premier have wireless charging for a smartphone, a «smart» salon mirror (the image from the camera is displayed on it), adaptive cruise control and LED headlights.

The refreshed SUV should enter the American market at the end of summer, prices have not yet been announced. Of course, due to the lack of «aspirated» 2.5 cross will be more expensive.

Today, for a car with this engine, they ask for at least $ 28,800 (about 2,118,000 rubles at the current exchange rate), the 2021 Blazer model year with a «turbo four» costs from $ 33,100 (about 2,434,000 rubles). All prices are excluding taxes and shipping.

Meanwhile, in the States, the cross is only five-seater, but in China it has a three-row salon.

In Russia, the new Blazer is not presented, the company has not officially announced plans to bring this SUV to us.
