Russian air car Flyter: first official images.

Scienex, a Voronezh startup, has posted on Instagram the first official images of its Flyter aeromobile, which it calls «our non-quadrocopter future.» A flying capsule the size of one parking space is devoid of all visible flight aids, and how it rises into the air is unknown.

Concept of Russian air taxi Flyter without wings and propellers. How will it fly?

More and more companies are developing flying cars. Many prototypes have already been created, which have different shapes, sizes, power plants, etc. But the start-up Scienex, from the city of Voronezh, presented, perhaps, the most original aeromobile. True, only a concept. What is known about him?

This creation is called Flyte. And the first question that immediately arises, with the help of what Hogwarts magic will this stay in the air? Of course, this is only a concept and a lot may change in the future.

The point is that the absence of wings and propellers is not a joke of the designer or the forgetfulness of the designer. A quite deliberate step. The fenders and propellers have been removed due to the insecurity of these structures, as the company clarified. One important detail, the direct purpose of this device, the transportation of people. That is, before us is the concept of air taxi.

But the main question remains open, how will this creation fly? According to information from the company, they have «revolutionary know-how», but they will tell about it only closer to the summer of 2021. The company also announced that in November it tested a minimally equipped prototype. The next step is testing a fully equipped prototype.

If the information is true and this device can move without the use of screws, wings, etc., then this is one of the most interesting projects.

The company claims that the search work took almost two years. As a result, it was possible to develop a form for the aircraft that is not only aerodynamic, but also safe: the absence of open propellers will allow the Flyter to operate in an urban environment. It is assumed that he will be able to park in the same place as ordinary cars, since it has dimensions of 5×2 meters.

The design of the Flyter, designed for two people, will allow it to accelerate in the air to 100 km / h or more, rise to a height of up to one and a half kilometers, and the cruising range must exceed 100 kilometers. He should get eight motors at once and will be able to take off and land completely vertically. The engines are supposed to be electric, and hydrogen fuel cells will generate energy for them.

In the author’s material on the VC.ru portal, the head of the company, Yevgeny Tyrnov, emphasizes that the time has not yet come for the disclosure of technical details: the startup does not want to prematurely “reveal its cards to competitors”. At the same time, it is argued that the Voronezh apparatus has a number of fundamental advantages and know-how.

On the official Scienex website, the list of advantages of an air vehicle mentions the absence of design flaws in an airplane, helicopter or multicopter, on the model of which all air vehicles are now being built, as well as the ongoing work to create an entire infrastructure. It will include its own operating system with autopilot and an artificial intelligence-based cloud «operator» that will be able to control the entire Scienex fleet of air vehicles.

The company promises to conduct flight tests of the first full-size prototype as early as next summer. Demonstration of the «live» Flyter will allow the company, as its management expects, to attract additional investment to complete the project.

At the end of October, the Dutch company Pal-V published a video showing the passage of its Liberty air car through the streets of Rotterdam. The company received official permission to operate the car on public roads — but so far only as a ground transport.
