Genesis G70 Shooting Brake 2021.

Introduced the new Genesis G70 Shooting Brake: a stylish all-rounder for Europe.

South Korean brand Genesis has unveiled the G70 Shooting Brake station wagon designed with an eye on the European market.

The restaling sedan G70 was taken as the basis for such a model. Interestingly, the new station wagon received almost the same rear door openings as the donor four-door.

At the same time, there are no side windows of the luggage compartment, which are usual for this class of cars, and a massive fifth door with panoramic glass and an equally noticeable spoiler is installed at the stern.

As for the station wagon’s salon, its front part is absolutely the same as on the Ji 70 sedan.

It is known that the rear sofa of the model is already divided into three parts in the base, folding in a ratio of 40:20:40. There are no photos of the luggage compartment of the car yet.

Its volume is also not advertised, although the developers have stated that it is 40% more than on the sedan. Consequently, the hold capacity is approximately 460 liters.

In terms of dimensions, the new model Genesis G70 Shooting Brake reaches 4,685 mm in length, 1,850 in width, and 1,400 in height. The distance between the axles of the five-door is 2,835 millimeters.

In the European market, the car will be offered either with a 2.0-liter gasoline «turbo four» with a capacity of 197 or 252 hp, or with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel for 202 «horses».

Both motors work with an eight-speed automatic, and the drive is already declared in the database as complete.

The start of sales of Genesis G. 70 Shootin Break in Europe is scheduled for the fall of the twenty-first, prices will be announced later.

They also plan to sell the station wagon in Korea and the USA, and the appearance of the five-door in other countries is questionable.

Until now, there were no passenger station wagons under the Genesis brand, but recently the company announced its entry into the European market, and there the presence of such cars in the range is highly desirable.

Therefore, with an eye on Europe, the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake was developed — a five-door based on a long-familiar sedan.

Engineers and designers approached the creation of a station wagon in a non-standard way. The new Shooting Brake does not have the usual side windows of the luggage compartment, and the rear door openings are almost the same as those of the sedan.

But the massive fifth door — with panoramic glass and a huge spoiler, and the roof is slightly longer than that of the base four-door.

The overall dimensions of the station wagon are exactly the same as those of the sedan: length — 4685 mm, width — 1850 mm, height — 1400 mm. Between the axles — 2835 mm.

The front of the cabin is the same as that of the base «seventy», but there are no images of the trunk yet.

It is only stated that the rear row is already «in the base» divided into three parts in a ratio of 40:20:40, and the trunk volume is 40% larger than that of the sedan (that is, about 460 liters).

In Europe, the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake will be offered with a 2.0 petrol turbo four (197 or 252 hp) and a 2.2 turbodiesel (202 hp).

Both engines are aggregated with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and there will be four-wheel drive.

Sales of station wagons in Europe will begin in the fall, that is, it will enter the «second wave» along with the G70 sedan and the GV70 crossover, while the G80 and GV80 models will become the pioneers in the development of the local market in the summer.

The Shooting Brake will also be sold in its native Korea, but other countries are questionable.

However, the life cycle of the five-door will be very short, because the base Genesis G70 sedan debuted back in 2017 and has already gone through a planned (and very large-scale) restyling.
