How much is the new Lada Niva Legend 2021 in Russia: the price of the SUV on the website of the official dealer varies from 619,900 to 760,900 rubles.

The car is sold in four configurations: Classic, Luxe, Urban and [Black]. Under the hood of Lada Niva Legend offered a non-alternative 1.7-liter gasoline engine, which is combined with a five-speed manual.

The automobile is offered in three- and five-door bodies, at that the base already has permanent four-wheel drive and transfer gearbox with downshift.

Special Edition [BLACK] corresponds to the Urban in terms of equipment, but has the original interior upholstery with a black ceiling.

Technical data

Lada Niva Legend 2021 is built on the basis of a frame chassis. The front axle of the SUV has an independent suspension on double wishbones, and the rear is dependent, with a rigid twisted beam.

The braking system consists of disc brakes in front and drum brakes in rear. Classic Niva has all-wheel drive already in base.

Axle differential here distributes the power between the axles equally (50:50). Plus the truck is equipped with a downshift gear in a transfer case and a forced inter-axle differential lock, which can help a motorist on off-road.

The Russian SUV is offered exclusively with a 1.7-liter four-row VAZ-21214 engine rated at 83 hp (129 Nm). (129 Nm), which works in tandem with a five-speed manual.

Three-door version of the model is able to accelerate from zero to a hundred in 17.0 seconds, developing speed up to 142 km/h.

The five-door is a little slower: its indicators — 19.0 seconds and 137 km/h respectively. Noise isolation of classic Niva is mediocre (if it exists at all).

And also the plastic rattles, the clutch pedal creaks, and in extreme positions the hydraulic booster also whistles.

Well, and, certainly, one should not forget about loud howling transfer gearbox. In general, the cacophony turns out really loud!

During last update Lada Niva Legend got more comfortable armchairs with different padding, in which it is quite possible to stand a couple of hours of continuous driving.

Also Avtovaz tried to improve car ergonomics, having reviewed location of some buttons and levers, but the backlighting of these controls has not received, so you have to operate them blindly in the dark.

On the highway, the new Lada Niva Legend does not grab stars from the sky. SUV picks up speed slowly and its steering is not ideal.

However, the car is still able to drive steadily at 120 km/h, periodically making overtaking and changing lanes.

The suspension of the model confidently «absorbs» small and medium irregularities, and the higher speed the more imperceptibly it manages to skip them.

In general the car is not afraid of bad roads, but its «native element» is a rough terrain. Despite of low-powered engine, Lada Niva Legend 2021 in new body can boast of outstanding cross-country ability.

Due to the short base the car confidently crawls up steep slopes and is able to turn around even on tiny glades.

Lada Niva Legend will get 1.8-liter engine with 122 hp: but it will be expensive.

It has become known that by the end of 2021 Togliatti company «Super-Auto» will launch a small-scale production of SUV Lada Niva Legend with 1.8-liter motor VAZ-21179, which is equipped with Lada Vesta.

It should be noted that the classic Niva comes with a 1.7 liter engine with the power of 83 hp (129 Nm). (129 Nm), at the same time mentioned 1.8-liter unit gives 122 «horsepower» and 170 Nm of torque.

On its version of the model the company «Super-Auto» will additionally replace the clutch sump, oil pan and receiver.

Besides this SUV will receive modified exhaust system and electronics, as well as a radiator of cooling system from Niva Travel.

Replacement of the engine with more powerful will make Niva significantly faster: acceleration from 0-100 km/h will be reduced to 12-13 seconds. For comparison, the standard model is 4-5 seconds slower.

Annually «Super Avto» plans to produce only 300 of these cars. It will be possible to buy a more powerful model for about 1,2 million rubles.

By the way, it is almost twice as expensive as the usual three-door Niva. The engine costs about 190,000 rubles out of this amount, and another 80,000 rubles are needed for certification — every car made by the company will have to go through the procedure individually.

According to rumors, in future Lada Niva SUV will get a version with 1.8 engine from the factory, but only with change of generation.

Plus a variant with 1.3-liter turbo engine from Renault Arkana may appear in the family.
