Farewell Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae: forced V12 and 2.8 seconds to «hundred.»

Production of the model will be completed this year, but the Italian manufacturer has decided to say goodbye with a limited edition with 350 coupes and 250 roadsters.

Lamborghini began producing the Aventador sports car in 2011, body types — coupe and roadster.

The “peak” for this niche model turned out to be 2019 — then the dealers of the Italian brand sold 539 cars in Europe, and in the “covid” 2020 the indicator “slipped” to 357 units, that is, the annual decline was 33.8%.

This year, the negative dynamics persists, but it is no longer so noticeable: in January-May, customers bought 142 cars, which is 1.4% less than in the first five months of 2020.

In Europe, the tightening of environmental standards continues: this process does not spare any of the automakers, including those involved in the production of niche sports cars.

So even Lamborghini had to rethink its development strategy, promising customers in the future a lineup consisting exclusively of hybrids and electric cars.

It is not surprising that cars with traditional internal combustion engines are gradually being retired, so the company decided to retire Aventador — the model will be completed this year.

The Italians decided to say goodbye to the sports car with a limited edition Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae.

Now the coupe and roadster have been declassified on the Web, and tomorrow, July 8, their public premiere will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The cars turned out to be a combination of two variants — the SVJ and the base Aventador S. This is reflected, among other things, in the appearance of the limited edition versions.

Thus, the Aventador Ultimae adopted from the SVJ version a large diffuser at the stern, as well as sill plates and high-positioned exhaust pipes.

However, this version did not receive a wing with an active aerodynamics system. In addition, its front fairing is similar to that of the base version (but the shape is slightly different to increase downforce on the front axle).

The interior of the novelty is the same as that of the base S version. The Ultimae version is distinguished by black trim with gray accents, a combination of Alcantara, leather and carbon fiber, as well as Y-shaped inserts on the seats, supported by the same pattern on the dashboard.

At the same time, customers are offered a choice of a variety of design options: a variety of colors and various materials for finishing.

Under the hood of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae is the previous 6.5-liter V12 engine, it was formed up to 780 hp. (the increase is quite modest, because it produces 770 hp in the SVJ version).

The maximum torque remains the same — 720 Nm. The version has four-wheel drive and a seven-speed «automatic» Graziano.

From standstill to 100 km / h, the coupe accelerates in 2.8 seconds (like the SVJ version), and gains two «hundred» in 8.7 seconds (for SVJ — 8.6 seconds). Roadster performance is 0.1 seconds longer. For farewell performances, the maximum speed is 355 km / h.

As we already noted, the circulation will be limited: the Italians will release 350 Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae coupes and 250 roadsters of this version.

The hybrid, which will replace the current sports car, will be presented in 2023. The fact that Lamborghini headed for electrification became known in mid-May this year.
