The 2020 Lincoln MKZ takes the lead in the mid-range car class. This model features a large boot and spacious interior.
In all other respects, this SUV is frankly inferior to competitors.
The 2020 Lincoln MKZ has many worthy competitors outside of this class. It is worth paying attention to the Ford Fusion.
This is not a luxury version of Lincoln, with Ford’s higher trim levels competing with Lincoln’s interior quality and may even cost less.
You may also like the Lexus ES, which is highly reliable and has a comfortable interior.
Salon
Lincoln MKZ seats up to 5 people. It comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery and 10-step front seats and heated front seats. Genuine leather upholstery, massage front seats and a heated steering wheel are also available.
Among the disadvantages of the cabin are the rear seats. Some passengers point out that there is ample room in the back row of the Lincoln MKZ, while others say there is not enough space.
The interior design uses premium materials, but the overall appearance is lackluster compared to rival sedans.
The luggage compartment of the Lincoln MKZ is 420 liters. It is an impressive size for a mid-size luxury car. However, the size of the luggage compartment can make it difficult to load large luggage. The 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery reduces the boot volume to 315 liters.
The 2020 Lincoln MKZ features a SYNC 3 infotainment system, an 8-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, dual USB ports, satellite radio and an 11-speaker stereo. Additionally, navigation, HD radio, two more USB ports and a Revel audio system with 14 or 20 speakers are available.
The SYNC 3 infotainment system is easy to use, with a touchscreen and several buttons and knobs for various functions. However, some motorists note that the physical controls would be more comfortable to use while driving.
Specifications
The Lincoln MKZ is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 245 horsepower and 372 Newton meters of torque.
Also, the car is available with a V8 twin turbo engine with a capacity of 350 horsepower (and in all-wheel drive models the performance of the power unit is 400 “horses”) and a torque of 540 Newton meters. Both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The MKZ Hybrid has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that together develops 188 horsepower and 175 Newton-meters of torque. It comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission.
The base engine is nothing special. It’s powerful enough for everyday commuting, but not fun at all. The V6 engine is reliable, but it doesn’t make this car into a sports sedan.
The basic powertrain model consumes approximately 11.7 liters per 100 km for city driving and 7.6 liters per 100 km for highway driving. These are standard values for vehicles of this class.
All-wheel drive models consume 11.8 liters per 100 km in the city and 8 liters per 100 km on the highway. Lincoln MKZ with a V6 engine and front-wheel drive consumes 13 liters in the city and 8.7 liters per 100 km and on the highway, and all-wheel drive models — 13.8 liters and 9 liters per 100 km, respectively.
The consumption of the hybrid MKZ version is several times more economical and amounts to 5.6 liters per 100 km within the city and 6 liters per 100 km while driving on the highway.
The 2020 Lincoln MKZ is capable of providing a comfortable ride in urban environments. However, most of this model’s competitors are sportier.
Safety
MKZ comes with several standard active safety features.
Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Driver Aid Kit includes Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Rearview Camera, Blind Spot Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Automatic High Beam and Lane Keeping Assist.
Adaptive cruise control is standard on the hybrid model, as are front sensors and parallel parking assistance.
Dimensions and weight
The MKZ 2020 is about 4.8 meters long. Its curb weight ranges from 1700 kg to 1900 kg.
Possible configurations
Lincoln MKZ is presented in three main trim levels: Standart, Reserve I and Reserve II. The hybrid model comes in the same trim levels at no additional cost.
The Reserve II trim can replace the standard engine with a twin-turbocharged V6, which produces 350 horsepower in the front-wheel drive Lincoln MKZ and 400 horsepower in the four-wheel drive models.
The MKZ Hybrid combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor producing 188 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard across the range, and all-wheel drive is available on all except hybrid models.
