McLaren 765LT Spider: the fastest convertible in the history of the British brand.

The novelty, which will be released in limited edition, is able to reach the first «hundred» in 2.8 seconds and accelerate to a maximum 330 km/h.

In February this year, the British company McLaren Automotive announced the transition to a new hybrid platform, the first carrier of which was the 680-horsepower Artura coupe, but, as it turned out, the line of road models of the last generation has not won back — today presented the flagship model with a folding top 765LT Spider.

The novelty is based on carbon fiber monocoque MonoCage II-S, designed specifically for models with a folding top. Doors without window frames are lighter than related coupe 765LT, but curb weight of Spider at the expense of the necessary strengthening is 49 kg more than the coupe.

Aerodynamic fins and active rear spoiler are redesigned taking into account driving without a roof.

The roof itself is made of carbon fiber, you can fold it up and down in just 11 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h — for this eight electric motors are responsible.

The rear window can be lowered and raised separately from the roof to use it as an aerodynamic screen, eliminating unnecessary turbulence in the cabin.

With the glass lowered, the draft will be stronger, but you can get maximum enjoyment from the roar of the engine through the titanium four-barrel in the stern.

The engine is a 4.0-liter petrol «twin-turbo-eight» with a maximum efficiency of 765 hp and 800 Nm, it is mated to the 7-speed «robot» SSG, transferring all power to the rear wheels.

The suspension has adaptive shock absorbers. The brakes are carbon ceramic, 390 mm in front and 380 mm in the rear.

Tires are Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R sized 245/35 R 19 in the front and 305/30 R 20 in the rear.

The interior, generously decorated with alcantara and carbon fiber, by default does not have air conditioning and audio system, but they can be ordered as options and put up with the inevitable increase in car weight.

As in the case of the 765LT coupe, which has long been sold out and is only nominally present on the company’s website, the Spyder will be produced in 765 copies, and many of them were ordered by regular customers even before the official premiere of the model.

The price starts at 310,500 pounds sterling (31.7 million rubles at current exchange rates), and it can be significantly increased if you take advantage of customization services from the McLaren Special Operation division.
