McLaren Artura: a hybrid supercar with a completely new internal combustion engine.

The first mass hybrid model of the McLaren brand was the Artura supercar. The two-door has been in development for the past four years and was officially unveiled in mid-February 2021.

The new McLaren Artura model received a streamlined body, thought out to the smallest detail, with numerous ventilation holes and air vents, which contribute to the flow of fresh air to the main power units.

The novelty is characterized by the presence of teardrop-shaped head optics, visually combined with teardrop-shaped air intakes of the front bumper.

The car has textured sidewalls, and its stern is notable for a massive diffuser with a pair of centrally located exhaust pipes.

It is reported that customers will be offered a choice of 31 body color options, plus customers will be able to independently configure the carbon body kit.

As for the wheels, the supercar received 19- and 20-inch wheels, which can be «shod» in Pirelli P Zero or P Zero Corsa tires with dimensions 235/35 and 295/35 front and rear, respectively.

The British call McLaren Arthur’s salon a «functional jewel». Whatever it means, the interior is comfortable and in the base it can please with electrically adjustable heated seats, and for a surcharge, the car can be ordered with lighter Clubsport bucket seats.

Speaking of landing, the developers note that a person under 190 cm tall can easily fit in the driver’s seat.

On the front of the supercar is a vertically positioned 8.0-inch touchscreen of the MIS II multimedia system, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay interfaces. The complex has a track telemetry system, and it can be controlled using voice commands.

The power plant is based on a new 3.0-liter aluminum V6 engine with two turbines. The unit weighs 160 kg and has a camber angle of 120 degrees.

This unit develops 585 hp. (584 Nm) and is capable of spinning up to 8,500 rpm. A 15-kilogram electric motor with 95 forces (225 Nm), built into the body of an eight-band SSG robot with two clutches, is designed to help the engine. The total output of such an installation is 680 «horses» and 720 Nm of torque.

The drive here is rear — with an electronically controlled differential. McLaren Arthur is also equipped with a 7.4 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Thanks to the latter, in a purely electric mode, the supercar can travel up to 30 kilometers, reaching speeds of up to 130 km / h. With the EVSE cable, you can recharge your battery to 80% in about 2.5 hours.

The installation has four modes of operation: E-Mode, Comfort, Sport and Track, plus three more presets for the stabilization system (Standard, Dynamic and Off). It is reported that the British two-door is capable of «firing» from 0-100 km / h in 3.0 seconds, from 0-200 km / h in 8.3 seconds, and from 0-300 km / h in 21.5 seconds.

The car travels a quarter mile distance in 10.7 seconds, and it can be accelerated up to 330 km / h.

The models are equipped with an electro-hydraulic power steering. The rear suspension uses a new, lighter multi-link design. The shock absorbers on the McLaren Artura are adaptive, while the anti-roll bars are conventional.

The front wheels are equipped with six-piston brakes with 390mm carbon-ceramic discs, while the rear wheels have four-piston brakes with 380mm rotors.

It is reported that the braking distance of the coupe when stopping from 100 km / h is 9.4 meters, and from 200 km / h — already 38.4 m. Receiving orders for McLaren Artura has already started.

The hybrid supercar is available in four different trim levels (Standard, Performance, Techlux and Vision), and it costs at least $ 225,000 (16.6 million rubles at the current exchange rate). Deliveries of the first machines to customers will begin in the third quarter of 2021.
