McLaren Senna Merlin: a «magical» supercar.

Bring a Trailer has launched a bid for the 2019 McLaren Senna supercar in the unique Merlin design. This two-door has a distinctive Sorcerer Black paint job, designed by Darren Towsend of McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

Interestingly, at a certain angle, this paint shimmers with all the colors of the rainbow. The vehicle body is decorated with contrasting gold accents in a circle.

The McLaren Senna Merlin is fitted with 19- and 20-inch forged wheels wrapped in 245/35 and 315/30 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires front and rear, respectively. Plus, these rollers attract attention with gold-colored brake calipers. By the way, on the front axle the last six-piston, and on the rear — four-piston.

In the interior of the exclusive two-door, there are carbon-fiber bucket seats. The seats are upholstered in black Alcantara and feature gold ‘Merlin’ lettering on the headrests. Interestingly, on the driver’s side door sill, there is an image of a wizard in a purple robe.

The latter was captured during the «casting» of the spell, and lightning emanating from his fingers form the outlines of the Brazilian Interlagos circuit, native to Ayrton Senna. The supercar is powered by a standard 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 789 hp.

The car put up for sale has a mileage of only 965 km, while at one time it cost the customer $ 1,144,233 (82.2 million rubles at the current exchange rate). Bidding for the car is in full swing and so far they are offering $ 900,000 (66.4 million rubles) for it.

The McLaren Senna has been in development over the past few years — its prototype was codenamed P15. The ready-to-go car received swift body lines and a developed carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit with active elements in the front and rear.

In particular, the McLaren Senna hypercar was equipped with a front splitter, numerous flaps and a massive rear wing. According to the manufacturer’s experts, these elements provide an unprecedented level of downforce.

Access to the interior is via unusual top-hinged doors. They are made of carbon fiber and have a glass insert at the bottom. Side windows in the doors consist of two parts: a fixed top and an opening bottom. As an option, the latter can be completely replaced with carbon inserts, but then it will become noticeably darker in the cockpit.

The interior of the McLaren Senna is designed in a minimalist style with extensive use of carbon. The most lightweight bucket seats are installed here, and the buttons for opening doors, windows and starting the engine are located on the ceiling. There is a small storage compartment behind the seats, but it can only hold a pair of racing helmets and related gear.

The cabin has a simple-looking but stylish three-spoke steering wheel. There are no buttons or levers on it. The car is equipped with McLaren Folding Driver Display tidy, and you can control the car settings and view various information from the large vertically oriented display of the information system.

Built on an ultralight 720S platform, the RWD McLaren Senna weighs just 1,198 kg, making it the lightest road model in the history of the British brand. The coupe is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which, working in conjunction with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, develops 800 hp. and 800 Nm.

Representatives of McLaren Automotive claim that Senna hypercar takes 2.8 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km / h (from 0 to 200 km / h — 6.8 seconds), its maximum speed reaches 340 km / h, and a distance of a quarter mile ( 402 meters), the car is able to overcome in 9.9 s.

A modified version of the independent suspension from the P1 hypercar, which uses hydraulic adaptive dampers and anti-roll bars, is designed to provide good handling at high speeds. The company called this suspension RaceActive Chassis Control II (RCC II).

In addition to the Comfort, Sport and Track operating modes familiar from the P1 model, another one was added to the Senna — Race. The latter lowers the ground clearance by a few millimeters, providing a lower center of gravity, while the suspension becomes more rigid.

Plus, the British supercar has received «the world’s most advanced brakes», which use carbon discs and modern technology from motorsport.

It was decided to fit the wheels of the car with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. These tires were developed specifically for the track, but received approval for use on public roads.
