Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic 2022.

Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic 2022 became the first production model of sub-brand AMG.

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ has premiered at the IAA 2021 Motor Show in Munich.

The novelty is the first fully electric model of AMG (if not to take into account small series supercar SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive from the distant twelve years).

The «charged» liftback already in the base has adaptive LED headlights Digital Light, and distinguish it from normal versions EQS can be on the presence of black plug instead of grille, which here has vertical chrome slats.

Also on the modification, a glossy black insert AMG A-wing in the front bumper has a chrome edging and a larger rear spoiler is installed at the rear.

This car is delivered on special 20-inch and 21-inch wheels at the front and rear respectively.

The latter are offered in two designs (Aero or Heritage) and differ from the standard by more elaborate aerodynamics.

At the same time, these design changes slightly worsened the overall aerodynamics of the body, and the aerodynamic drag coefficient of the modification is 0.23.

The interior of the new Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ mostly repeats the original Mercedes EQS.

The only thing that can be noted is a screen Hyperscreen, which is now supplemented with a number of specific for AMG cars functions. Curb weight of the «fifty-third» is claimed to be 2,655 kg.

Two synchronous motors, total capacity of which reaches 658 hp and 950 Nm drive the car.

At the same time for extra cost the AMG Dynamic Plus package is available, allowing to squeeze 761 horsepower and 1,020 Nm of torque.

It is reported that acceleration from zero to a hundred of EQS 53 is possible in 3.8 seconds, and the version with the mentioned package — in 3.6 seconds.

The liftback can accelerate to 220 and 250 km/h, respectively.

Traction battery here has a capacity of 107.8 kWh. With it the electric car is able to drive 526-580 km (according to the cycle WLTP) without recharging.

When using a fast DC station with a capacity of up to 200 kW to replenish the battery for 300 km can be achieved in 19 minutes. Plus, the battery can be recharged using AC power of 22 kW.

To create a characteristic AMG-sound, German engineers used a special system, and the driver can choose between two modes: Authentic and Performance.

The sound volume is adjusted automatically depending on the activated preset, although it can also be adjusted manually.

The new Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 2022 also boasts an advanced cooling system and the AMG Ride Control+ adaptive air suspension, which not only has unique settings, but also a number of new components.

The steerable rear axle here is included in the list of basic equipment.

The power unit can operate in one of three modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport+.

The first allows for maximum range, while the other two provide better performance.

In turn, the AMG Dynamic Select system provides access to five more driving presets: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.

The all-wheel-drive AMG Performance 4Matic+ model checks and adjusts the distribution of traction between the axles 166 times every second.

The i-Booster system has special settings, due to which an effective combination of hydraulic and regenerative braking is achieved. There are three levels of regeneration.

The presented liftback gets six-piston front calipers and brake discs with a diameter of 415 and 378 mm at the front and rear respectively.

For extra money you can order carbon-ceramic mechanisms, at which diameter of front «pancakes» is increased to 440 millimeters.

On top of everything else, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 is equipped with a virtual racing assistant «AMG Track Pace».

It analyzes more than 80 parameters, allowing to get the best result on the track.

Start of sales of the top-end liftback is scheduled for early 2022, the price tag will be announced shortly.
