2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT: the acceleration dynamics are better than the Porsche 911, but cheaper.
Mercedes AMG GT 2020 is available as a 2- and 4-door coupe. Moreover, both versions of the car are practically not similar to each other. The 4-door coupe is based on the platform of the E-Class sedan and looks like a Porsche Panamera, although this model competes more with the Porsche 911.

Two affordable hybrid units and one turbocharged engine help get around the famous German sports car Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. which are combined only with all-wheel drive and automatic transmission. This model is also notable for the fact that despite a rather high price, by default it is equipped with relatively inexpensive equipment (if you exclude premium acoustics). Everything else (electric seats, all-round cameras and more) is offered for an extra charge.

Options and prices

Mercedes AMG GT 2020, in comparison with the standard 2-door coupe, really has a new body, thanks to which this model is closer to standard German sedans than to full-fledged sports cars. The car, as the photo shows, stands out due to the proprietary aerodynamic body kit and a massive spoiler on the luggage compartment lid.

Before the release of the 2020 AMG GT, Mercedes-Benz removed one of the previously available trim levels, slightly adjusting prices. Because of this, the technical characteristics of the German model have changed, as the manufacturer removed one of the previously available engines.

The 2020 Mercedes AMG GT is initially equipped with a hybrid unit based on a 367-horsepower turbo engine.

In this version, estimated at 6.55 million rubles, there are:

branded body kit from AMG;
dual-zone climate (four-zone for a fee);
standard anti-theft system;
LED interior lighting with ten shades;
a key with the function of memory settings car;

navigation module;
electric trunk with contactless opening function;

To improve cross-country ability in corners, along with the German coupe, thruster rear wheels and a lockable rear differential are available for a surcharge. As standard, the car is equipped with fully LED lighting technology, heated exterior mirrors with servo-drive and seats with leather trim.

Comfortability of movement in the Mercedes-AMG Gran Turismo provide:

12.3-inch screen in place of the dashboard;
steering wheel with audio control buttons;
premium acoustics of the Burmester brand with 13 speakers;
12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen
separate monitors for second-row passengers (offered as an option);

The list of optional equipment includes:

electrically adjustable seats of the first and second rows with a memory function;
ventilated front seats with massage;

collision avoidance system that stops the car if necessary.

The security complex is also widely represented. It consisted of 6 airbags and systems for monitoring the condition of the driver, lane keeping, intelligent parking assistance and prevention of brake locks. For a fee you can also get chrome exhaust pipes.

This version of the German coupe is almost 1 million rubles more expensive than the previous one. This surcharge is mainly provided for the emergence of a new hybrid installation, which was based on a 435-horsepower biturbo engine. Externally, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT in this version stands out due to the aerodynamic body kit and additional decor details. In addition, a keyless entry system is available to customers.

Top-end equipment is estimated at almost 11 million rubles. It provides a 639-horsepower biturbo engine, a lockable rear differential, steering wheels, air suspension with sport settings and 20-inch wheels that hide the yellow brake calipers. This configuration complements the previous ones due to a special package of systems that provide the best stability of the car on the track.

Specifications

As already noted, the structurally new 2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is close to German-made sedans. This is due to the fact that the basis of this model is the MRA platform. Complete with a German sedan comes multi-chamber air suspension, 9-speed automatic transmission and proprietary four-wheel drive, which can be disabled in the top version. The maximum configuration also includes a deactivated ESP and a locked rear differential.

By default, the AMG GT is equipped with a hybrid installation, which is based on a 3-liter turbocharged engine. This unit produces about 367 hp. net power and 500 N * m of torque.

It is combined with 48-volt on-board electronics, generating an additional 22 hp. and 250 N * m. Such equipment provides the German coupe with acceleration to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds with an average fuel consumption of 9.4 liters.

In the middle configuration, a hybrid installation appears, based on the same 48-volt on-board system and a 3-liter engine. But in this case, the specified motor produces 435 hp already. net power at 520 N * m maximum traction. Thanks to increased returns, acceleration to 100 km / h now takes 4.5 seconds, and the average fuel consumption has remained unchanged.

In the top-end modification, a 4-liter twin-turbo engine appears under the hood of the German model.

The maximum output of this motor reaches 639 hp, and the thrust level is 900 N * m. A car with such a technical part can accelerate to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds, which is faster than the Prosche 911. In this case, the average fuel consumption increases to 11.3 liters.

Design

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT has a rounded shape and a sloping roof, which smoothly goes into the hood, speckled with noticeable stampings, and a compact tailgate. The latter is supplemented by a large spoiler, which at high speeds automatically changes the angle of inclination, thereby increasing downforce.

For this, an expanded air intake is also provided in the front bumper, which also provides airflow to the brake mechanisms. The head optics, as well as the radiator grille, are decorated in the standard style for the German brand.

The feed of the AMG GT stands out not only due to the massive spoiler. The narrow optics with LED lights are noteworthy at the rear. There is also an enlarged bumper, on the sides of which there are diffusers, and below it are twin tailpipes of the exhaust system.

In the cabin of the German model there are 4 separate seats, each of which is complemented by pronounced lateral support and electric drive. The interior of the AMG GT is also strictly designed in the corporate style of Mercedes-Benz in recent years.

The only thing that stands out from the general row is a wide transmission tunnel with a metal plate and numerous chassis control keys and on-board electronics.

Start of sales

The updated version of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, in fact, did not leave the Russian market. The 2020 modification lost one configuration and engine, retaining the previous set of equipment.
