Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600: a luxury version of the flagship SUV.
At the November auto show in Guangzhou, two thousand nineteenth, the Germans presented the luxury crossover Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600.

The novelty is built on the basis of the usual GLS and differs from the latter in a different exterior decor.

Outside, the Maybach version is easily recognizable by its signature grille, widespread use of chrome and multi-spoke alloy wheels that can be 22 or 23 inches.

Plus, on the D-shaped rear pillars of the model, the nameplates of the premium sub-brand flaunt.

Another feature of the Maybach GLS 600 2021 is the two-tone color of the body, with a choice of eight color combinations offered at once. Also, it should be noted that the machine has retractable steps with an electric drive.

They are capable of withstanding a load of up to 200 kg and leave from under the thresholds about a second after opening the doors, additionally illuminating if it is dark outside.

Already in the base, the interior of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is covered with natural nappa leather, although even more expensive finishing materials can be selected for a surcharge.

There are several color schemes for the salon themselves, and all of them are exclusive, that is, they are not available for conventional FPP.

Compared to the latter, the luxury crossover features an exceptionally two-row interior.

The design of the front row almost completely repeats that of the donor model: there are still two 12.3-inch displays on the front panel, although the graphics of the digital dashboard and the design of the multimedia menu are still slightly different.

At the rear, the changes are already more significant. The abandonment of the gallery allowed the Germans to move the second row back by 120 mm, which had a positive effect on the amount of free space at the feet of passengers.

The default is a three-seater sofa. It has heating, ventilation and a built-in massager, while with the help of an electric drive, the back of its side sections can be folded back by 43.5 degrees, thereby allowing passengers to recline.

For a surcharge, the car can be purchased with separate second-row seats with a high console located between them, providing access to the refrigerator and folding tables.

Plus, blinds on the windows and a separate dual-zone climate control are designed to please the passengers in the back.

Other interior features include a 1,590-watt Burmester audio system with 27 speakers, contoured interior lighting and a panoramic roof.

The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 reaches a length of 5,205 mm (- 2), with a wheelbase of 3,135 mm, that is, the dimensions of the model remain almost the same as those of the original GLS.

But the trunk of the model has become noticeably more modest — only 520 liters (- 370).

Note that the cargo compartment is separated from the passenger compartment by a fixed horizontal shelf. According to the developers, this solution helps to reduce noise in the cab and minimizes the level of vibration.

The crossover is set in motion by an engine from the «usual» GLS 580. We are talking about a 4.0-liter V8 with two turbines, although its output has been increased to 558 hp. at 6,000 — 6,500 rpm and 730 Nm, available in the range from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm.

It is reported that to accelerate from zero to hundreds of 2,785-kg SUV requires 4.9 seconds, and its maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h.

Plus, the luxury crossover received an electrical superstructure in the form of an EQ-Boost system, the starter-generator of which is powered by a 48-volt electrical system, giving out 22 hp. and 250 Nm.

The task of the latter is to help the internal combustion engine at the very beginning of acceleration, as well as to start the engine as part of the start-stop system.

This superstructure also helps to reduce fuel consumption, which the model claims at 11.7 l / 100 km.

The crossover is based on Airmatic air suspension, although the car can also be ordered with an active hydropneumatic E-Active Body Control system.

The latter is powered by the aforementioned 48-volt mains and allows you to adjust the settings on each wheel.

When driving on asphalt, it minimizes rolls, and on off-road conditions it levels the body in advance, compensating for the features of the relief.

In addition to the familiar driving modes, the luxurious GLS 600 also has a Maybach preset, which, when activated, activates special engine and suspension settings to ensure maximum driving comfort.

It was decided to produce the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 at the Alabama plant (USA), where the assembly of the usual GLS has already been established.

The start of sales of a luxury SUV in Russia fell on the end of the summer of the twentieth year, the cost of the model starts at 16,150,000 rubles, i.e. this is 1.57 million more expensive than the «charged» GLS 63.

However, the base price for Maybach is not an indicator, since with all available options the price will be about 26 million rubles.

The options are quite expensive: for example, for more 23-inch rims they ask for 720,000 rubles, the active hydropneumatic suspension E-Active Body Control pulls for 780,000 rubles, separate seats on the second row are another 450,000, and folding tables and monitors for the rear passengers — 216,000 and 282,000 rubles. respectively.

And one of the most expensive options for an SUV is a two-tone body paint — only for it you will have to pay an impressive 2,100,000 rubles.

At the same time, the standard equipment of the model includes a three-seater sofa with electrically adjustable side sections, upholstery in Nappa leather, Burmester audio system, panoramic roof, air fragrance, contoured interior suspension, adaptive cruise, etc.
