Opel Mokka 2021: a total update of the charming German SUV.

Almost five years have passed since Opel cars in general and the Mokka crossover in particular were withdrawn from the Russian market.

However, in Europe in the SUV segment, this model occupies a leading position, and therefore receives regular restyling.

So this time, the Opel Mokka 2021, the appearance of which marked a generational change, received a completely different design than before, a more comfortable interior and improved engine compartment characteristics.

The car is still offered exclusively in an electric version, but later, classic petrol and diesel modifications should also arrive.

In general, the car evokes only pleasant emotions, which gives the owners of the manufacturing company grounds to be confident in its commercial success.

Appearance.

The modernization of the car led to a significant change in the new body in size and the transformation of the overall appearance.

In particular, its length has decreased by more than 10 centimeters, while its base has remained almost the same, and its width has grown to 1,780 millimeters, making the silhouette more lean and at the same time brutal.

In addition, even in the photo, you can notice serious changes in the external design due to the addition of brighter, artsy elements.

The front end of the 2021 Opel Mokka has undergone the biggest transformations. She added a little in height and is now stylized as a visor for a helmet.

This is facilitated by large headlights connected into a single whole and a radiator grill slightly shaded against their background.

Inside the front lighting equipment there will always be a high-quality LED filling, and richer configurations will acquire matrix modules consisting of a dozen segments, each of which is controlled separately.

Above this whole structure rises a bonnet with a slight slope towards the front and a minimal amount of relief, slightly raising the front and lowering the sidewalls.

Below is a very large body kit replete with aerodynamic elements, with two different-sized strips of air intakes, in the lower of which stylish fog lights are built.

There will also be two slots on the sides with a bright chrome edging for cooling the brakes, and this element is completed by a well-visible chrome guard.

The profile of the new model looks quite bright and from the sides the car looks longer than it actually is. Under the streamlined roof, there are small glasses assembled into a teardrop-shaped figure.

This section of the car rises towards the rear and has a high-gloss black bezel and is also separated by rather wide struts painted the same color as the bezel.

Below, a smoothly rolling relief begins, resting on elaborate thresholds and huge wheel arches, reinforced with a protective layer of black plastic and located at a fairly high height from the ground: the clearance of the novelty will be an impressive 21 centimeters!

The back of the novelty is designed laconically. It starts with a thin but long visor with brake signal repeaters, immediately below which is a small rounded tailgate window.

Below are the neat L-shaped side lights, the brand badge and model name, and a modestly embossed «smile» cargo cover.

The bumper of the novelty is quite usual for such crossovers and contains a little more lighting equipment, stamping under the number and a powerful lower part made of unpainted plastic with a decorative chrome arc.

Salon.

The interior of the new Opel Mokka 2021 model year pleasantly surprises with a laconic front panel and high quality finishing materials, including high-quality fabrics, plastic and leather, and even Alcantara for a surcharge.

It is worth noting a rather large number of smart assistants and additional options that will not let both the driver and his passengers get bored on a long journey.

Front end decoration.

The dashboard is attracted by the dual screens of the virtual instrument cluster and the entertainment system, the latter being slightly turned towards the driver and can have a diagonal of seven or nine inches.

The number of physical buttons on the panel is minimal, but hot keys make up for them with interest. The whole system is surrounded by small deflectors located both vertically and horizontally.

The central tunnel of the car is not high, but rather wide. It starts with a carry-on luggage compartment, followed by a technical panel, organizers, and a solid armrest with a refrigerated compartment inside.

Seats and trunk.

The novelty boasts well-profiled seats, of which there are exactly five in the car. The front row will receive electric adjustments, heating, and, optionally, massage.

The rear sofa will also be heated, and will also be able to change the angle of the backrest, for a surcharge, you can get hold of some other options.

As for the trunk of the crossover, it has slightly decreased and now accommodates 350 liters of luggage with five riders in the cabin. If you fold the back sofa, this figure can be more than doubled!

Specifications.

For the Opel Mocca 2021, only front-wheel drive and semi-independent rear suspension will be available. At the same time, the variety of engines can only be envied.

The electric version will receive a 136 horsepower engine with a power reserve of more than 300 kilometers and a maximum speed of 150 km / h.

The capabilities of gasoline and diesel engines can only be assessed after a test drive, but it is already known today that a 1.2-liter gasoline unit equipped with a turbine will be able to produce from 99 to 153 forces.

Most likely, there will appear a turbodiesel with a volume of one and a half liters, capable of producing 100 «horses». But there is no complete clarity about the transmission yet, but most likely the buyer will be offered both mechanics and a classic «automatic», as well as a variator.

Options and prices.

According to insider information, the new product will be delivered in no less than five trim levels. The starting price will be 1.75 million rubles, the electric version will cost almost 900 thousand units of the Russian currency more.

Release date in Russia.

There is still no information about whether the start of sales in Russia will take place. In Europe, pre-orders of new items will begin this fall, and the car will go on sale in the spring of 2021.

Competitors.

In addition to the soplatform Peugeot 2008 and DS 3 Crossback, the model will compete with Geely Atlas, Renault Capture, Hyundai Kona and Nissan Qashqai.
