In the new version, the practical and multipurpose compact MPV Peugeot Rifter 2021, at the same cost as its predecessor, offers more advanced technical and electronic equipment.

The new front- or all-wheel-drive family car with a five- or seven-seat comfort layout also promises more dynamic performance in power tandems.

The next restyling was the reason for the implementation of a number of body layout and design solutions, updating the salon interior and improving the ergonomics of the seats.

Exterior

In the external appearance of the post-reform five-door one can see elements of the style characteristic of the branded cargo-and-passenger analogue of the Partner series.

According to eyewitnesses, the 2021 Rifter demonstrates an external resemblance to the models of the same type in the «cross-van» configuration, as well as a harmonious combination of brand design, complemented by a share of aggressiveness.

In the photo, in the most expressive front projection, the new body attracts attention:

• black gloss of the window perimeter;

• small longitudinal profiles of the short bonnet;

• compact format and texture of the grid of the radiator cladding;

• xenon optics units supplemented with vertical dotted lines of navigation lights.

The structural properties of the lower part of the front end include a massive protruding bumper, a slotted air intake and a ventilation duct for the engine compartment, framed with black plastic and side diffusers equipped with fog lamps.

The décor of the front side of the body is represented by the chrome plating of the brand symbols and the lining of the plastic body kit, as well as numerous details of the stylish aerodynamic relief.

Business style dominates in the design of the sidewalls. In stock:

• flat roof equipped with roof rails;

• separate arrangement of front and rear glazing;

• massive racks of square mirrors;

• raised accents on the doors and protruding wheel arches.

The entourage of a new generation of compact van is complemented by massive plastic protection of the lower case edge and the proprietary five-beam pattern of 17-inch disks.

In the design of the stern with a square configuration, layout solutions typical for compact vans are involved.

This is a large-format hinged door vertical glazed in the upper part, as well as interesting graphics of vertical lamps installed on the side posts.

The arrangement is completed by the upper plane of the plastic bumper designed in the form of a footboard.

The decor is chrome-plated logo, nameplates and bumper made of unpainted plastic. Despite the budget status, the appearance of the Peugeot Rifter 2021 during the first presentation received a lot of positive feedback from visitors.

Interior

In the new version of the compact van, the assortment of interior finishing materials and the working functionality of the component options has been expanded. In various versions, the fabric, kozhimite or leather interior is complemented by decorated plastic inserts and aluminum-composite alloy accents.

• The compact format of the sports multifunction steering wheel with embossed rim provides a full overview of the analog-digital instrument panel, equipped with four dial indicators and a polychrome computer monitor.

• The console features an 8-inch diagonal touchscreen media command display, dual vents assembly and climate control activation panel.

• The central tunnel is equipped with a well for small things, a start button for the power unit, a washer for switching travel modes, as well as a spacious refrigeration chamber built into the armrest.

Pilot front seat service includes lateral support, adjustment functionality and seat heating. For passengers of the second, and in the cabin with a seven-seater layout and the third row, the backrest can be tilted.

After partial dismantling of the rear seats, the boot capacity can vary from 750 to 4000 liters. The cargo compartment with a large-format doorway and a flat floor is equipped with a spare wheel well.

The test drive confirmed the high level of road comfort, including the efficient operation of the suspension and cabin soundproofing.

Specifications

The dimensions of the new version of the Peugeot Rifter 2021 in the basic version have been edited in the ratios of length, width and height, respectively, 4400 x 1850 and 1810 mm. The compact MPV is based on the advantages of the EMP2 combined platform from Partner / Berlingo.

• The base of the running gear of a compact van with a comfortable for its status MacPherson and torsion bar suspension is 2780 mm. The chassis assets include sets of anti-roll bars, disc brakes, electronic assistants and security systems.

• Gasoline engine — turbocharged «four» 1.2 l / 110 hp / 205 Nm — also announced in the forced version, with an output of 130 hp / 230 Nm. A 1.5-liter diesel engine with a volume of 1.5 liters is promised in three modifications, with a capacity of 75, 110 and 130 hp.

• The dynamics of the start, maximum speed and other operational parameters will be published in the near future.

Options and prices

The novelty is promised in a standard version and a sporty configuration with an extended body. The preliminary price in ruble equivalent is declared at the level of 1.4 million. The cost of the full list of paid options is 500 thousand rubles.

Sales start in Russia

The prospects for the supply of the new Rifter 2021 to the domestic market need to be clarified. Perhaps the release date in Russia will be indicated at the beginning of the second half of the year.

Competitors

Analysis of the compact van market shows that the new Peugeot Rifter 2021 model year is able to effectively compete with European and Asian counterparts of the Volkswagen Touran, TagAZ Road Partner, Hyundai Matrix, Citroen C3 Picasso or Lifan Lotto class.
