Porsche 911 Targa 2021: two versions and a price of 128 thousand euros.
Until now, the Porsche 911 family in the 992 body was represented only by the coupe and convertible, but now a third layout option is also available.

It is an all-wheel drive targa that debuted in the Porsche 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S. The original two-door model retains the same architecture with a folding roof section over the front seats, a wide aluminum arch in the middle and a glass dome at the rear.

At the same time, the novelty received more powerful power units, which made it possible to improve dynamic characteristics.

The new Porsche 911 Targa will go on sale in August 2020. The execution price of the 911 Targa 4 will be 128,486 euros (10.15 million rubles), the 911 Targa 4S variant will be offered for 143,956 euros (11.37 million rubles).

Body design and top transformation mechanism

The exterior of the new 2021 Porsche 911 Targa is inspired by the 992 siblings. The car is distinguished by the developed front fenders and the characteristic embossing on the bonnet, like in the first 911 generations.

The two-door wheels have different sizes. On a simple Targa 4, 19-inch wheels with 235/40 ZR19 tires are installed at the front, and 20-inch wheels with 295/35 ZR20 tires at the rear.

«Esca» gets wheels one size larger — 20 and 21 inches, respectively (tires 245/35 ZR20 and 305/30 ZR21).

A magnesium alloy convertible top and a powerful aluminum frame allow the Targa to combine the qualities of a convertible and a classic coupe.

In the new generation, due to the refinement of the drive, the folding time of the roof was reduced from 20 to 19 seconds. In this case, the process starts only if the machine is stationary.

Equipment

The Targa’s equipment is the same as that of other Porsche 911 models. For example, there is a proprietary PCM media center with a 10.9-inch center screen and a block of five buttons for quick access to important functions.

However, the novelty was additionally assigned to the adaptive cruise control InnoDrive, which takes into account the readings of the video camera and navigation data.

The car also relies on the Smartlift system, with which you can increase the ground clearance in certain places on the road.

The body rises automatically at the front by 40 mm. The Porsche Tequipment package expands the options, and the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur provides personalization.

Specifications

The new Porsche 911 Targa has slightly grown in size relative to its predecessor and has become a little heavier. With dimensions of 4519x1852x1297 mm, the 4S version now weighs 1640-1675 kg, although earlier its weight was 1580-1600 kg.

However, this did not lead to a deterioration in dynamics, on the contrary, the model added to its agility. All thanks to the increased efficiency of the power plants.

The base version of the Targi received an improved 3.0-liter six-cylinder boxer with 385 hp. and 450 Nm.

The engine is combined with an 8-speed PDK «robot» and with the optional Sport Chrono package, the two-door accelerates to 100 km / h in 4.2 seconds (0.1 seconds faster than before). This modification can accelerate to 289 km / h.

The Targa 4S version comes with the same 3.0-liter unit but boosted to 450 hp. and 530 Nm. It offers a choice of two transmissions — in addition to the PDK box, a new 7-speed «mechanics» is available.

It comes with the Sport Chrono Package as standard. The new Porsche 911 Targa 4S with a «robot» spurts up to «hundreds» in 3.6 seconds and gains a maximum of 304 km / h.

All versions of the new Targa are equipped as standard with the PASM adaptive suspension with two preset operating modes Normal and Sport.

Plus, the «escu» is initially equipped with a rear PTV Plus differential with electronic locking. The conventional Targa 4 has four-piston brakes with 330mm discs.

The Targa 4S has four-piston rear mechanisms combined with six-piston front mechanisms, and discs have a diameter of 350 mm. Carbon ceramics are optional anyway.
