The mad SUV picks up a hundred in 3.3 seconds and goes around the Nordschleife faster than the Bugatti Veyron.

Such stories do not happen often, even in our crazy profession: a few weeks ago the guys from Porsche invited me to one of the studios in Stuttgart to demonstrate a new «secret» model and give the opportunity to communicate with its creators.

Believe it or not: even entering the hall, I had no idea what I would see right now. As a result, there was a gray-blue Cayenne Coupe on atypical golden wheels. Also striking were the centrally located tailpipes and the impressive rear roof spoiler.

How the firm managed to keep the fact of the creation of the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT a secret, history is silent. However, the layer of improvements quite eloquently proves that the machine has been worked on for a long time.

Compared to the regular Coupe, the hardcore crossover received a retuned chassis with 15% stiffer air suspension dampers, a re-calibrated electric power steering and a modified PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) system, which is responsible for roll suppression.

Electric motors located inside the stabilizers on each axle intervene when entering a corner, helping the car trick the laws of physics.

The power plant, of course, also fell under the hot hand of the Stuttgart engineers. The supercharged V8 known from the usual Cayenne Turbo was dispersed to 640 forces and 850 Nm against 550 «horses» and 770 «newtons» of the source.

According to the project manager Herman Sturm, the biturbo-eight received new pistons and connecting rods, as well as a modified crankshaft with a torsional vibration damper.

In addition, the electronics engineers taught the 8-speed fluid mechanics to shift faster.

The Turbo GT generates 40 kg more downforce at top speed thanks to the doubled width of the moving plate, the carbon fiber diffuser and the roof spoiler.

If it is fair to say that there is an even more productive (680 hp and 900 Nm) version of the Turbo S E-Hybrid in the model lineup, Herman will still find something to cover.

And here you can’t argue with him. In addition to additional power, the electric appendage also carries extra pounds.

As a result, the Coupe Turbo GT accelerates to a hundred in 3.3 seconds — five «dozen» faster than the hybrid. And the hero of the story becomes the first serial «Cayenne» capable of overcoming the principal mark of 300 km / h.

The Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT is available exclusively in the cross-coupe form factor (as the name suggests). The back row is strictly double.

Is the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT the fastest production crossover in the world?

It depends on how you look at it. In terms of maximum speed on paper, Porsche (300 km / h) will drive around both the related Lamborghini Urus (305 km / h) and a monster named Lister Stealth (316 km / h) based on the Jaguar F-Pace SVR SUV.

But there is another criterion: on June 14, the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT with factory Porsche driver Lars Kern at the wheel closed the Nordschleife in 7: 38.925.

For you to understand, this is on a par with the current BMW M5 super sedan and the Nissan GT-R supercar. The time of the 1001-horsepower Bugatti Veyron is 7 minutes and 40 seconds exactly.

The closest real rival — the soplatform Audi RS Q8 — copes with the «Green Hell» for 7: 42,250. Abyss!

The 22-inch rims are designed for the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT. Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires are also brewed specifically for the model.

You can order the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT now. Prices in Germany start at 196,078 euros or 17 million rubles at the exchange rate (and this is a third more than they ask in Russia for a regular cross-coupe with the Turbo prefix).

The first «live» cars will reach European owners in September.
