Rolls-Royce Boat Tail 2021. An exclusive model for selected customers of the brand.

Rolls-Royce has launched a Coachbuild division, which will manufacture exclusive vehicles for the British brand. The first model of this division was the open Rolls-Royce Boat Tail.

Interestingly, the construction of such a car was initiated at the request of three customers at once from among the most loyal customers of RR.

They all wanted a car in the style of the classic 1932 Rolls-Royce Boat Tail.

Thus, the exclusive model will be released in three copies (one for each client), but so far only one of them is ready (the car in the photo).

The modern Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is based on the Phantom Drophead Coupe convertible.

It is interesting that the latter has long been out of production: the last serial copy was assembled in two thousand and sixteen.

Work on the model has been going on for the last four years, and for eight months the company’s specialists have been reworking the body frame and manufacturing new aluminum panels.

Thus, the exclusive model is not a revised version of the aforementioned convertible. It has a number of fundamental differences, and 1813 new parts are involved in its design.

The front part of the open two-door is made in the corporate style of the British brand, while the radiator grill is integrated directly into the body (on the donor it is a separate part).

However, the most interesting is the stern, the design of which is intended to resemble expensive yachts. To achieve this similarity, the developers abandoned the standard trunk lid.

Instead of the latter, two leaves are installed here, which synchronously open by 67 degrees using an electric drive.

Interestingly, the open-pored wood veneer «Caleidolegno» was used for the finishing of these doors, while inside the trunk there is a picnic set with compartments for plates, cutlery and wine glasses.

Plus, in the depths of the compartment, you can find folding tables and stools of the Italian company Promemoria, as well as two refrigerators, in one of which the lodgements are made specifically for two bottles of expensive Armand de Brignac champagne (30,000 rubles per bottle), which is exactly the preference of the customer who ordered the car.

Two fans and five electronic units located in the lower part of the trunk are responsible for the stable operation of refrigerators.

Due to the latter, the required microclimate can be maintained in the boxes even with a range of outdoor temperatures from -20 to +80 degrees Celsius.

But the car does not have a folding roof, and precisely because of the tricky trunk. But a hard top is available for the car, although when dismantling the top panel, you can only leave it in the garage.

As for the interior, it does not differ much from the original Phantom, although it has an exclusive finish made using the Guilloche technique (the latter is usually used in the manufacture of expensive jewelry).

A Bovet 1822 chronometer flaunts on the front of this Rolls-Royce, and in the glove compartment there is an aluminum and leather case, which contains a Montblanc fountain pen.

The technical stuffing of the 5.8-meter car remains standard, which means that it is driven by a 6.75-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine and a six-speed automatic.

The developers note that the exclusive model has passed the entire cycle of required driving tests and is certified for operation on public roads.

The cost of the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail captured in the photo is not specified, while it is known that the other two copies will differ from it and will receive original external decor and trim.
