The Japanese brand Toyota has not pleased its fans for a long time with global updates in the business class. And if for Russia the Camry model continues to be the only one «on the way» to the coveted segment, then residents of North America, the Middle East and some other countries will be able to enjoy a full-fledged business sedan Toyota Avalon 2021.

The novelty combines luxury and practicality thanks to a thorough restyling of the exterior, modern and truly beautiful interior and engine compartment filling using the best engineering technologies.

At the same time, according to the company’s top management, the price, which adequately reflects the offered advantages of the car, should positively affect the sales dynamics.

Appearance

The exterior of the new model is made quite in the style of the brand, only decorative elements, including chrome ones, have become a little more.

The air intake elements, the head and rear lighting equipment, as well as the relief, the outlines of which have become more smooth, at least visually, have noticeably changed. In general, the appearance of the novelty has become more harmonious, and sophistication has begun to be combined with brutality.

The most striking part of the Toyota Avalon 2021 can be safely called its front end. It is set low and has an average size, which has a good effect on the view from the driver’s seat.

The windshield is not very large, but it has a noticeable slope, creating a feeling of speed. The bonnet has got barely noticeable longitudinal stripes, visually raising the central part and contributing to the improvement of aerodynamic performance.

The radiator grille is very narrow and contains chrome «fenders», in the center of which there is a brand badge covered with the same material. The head optics is made in the form of two narrow arrows and boasts high-quality LED filling in any configuration.

Below the body kit begins, a significant part of which is occupied by a huge, framed by a chrome line «mouth» of the air intake. Along the edges of this structure are narrow vertical fog lights, and just below — a stylish aerodynamic protrusion with the thinnest protective strip that protects the bumper from damage.

The profile of the Japanese woman, judging by the photo, looks fresh and traditional at the same time. It begins with a streamlined roof, immediately below which is a drop of windows framed in chrome.

They are separated by gloss black uprights and also contain original small mirrors at the front. Below, a smooth relief begins, restrained by two horizontal edges and abutting against huge, slightly protruding wheel arches and rather wide thresholds.

The feed of the new body is made quite in the spirit of modern premium sedans. The small, highly angled glass merges into a short luggage compartment lid with a barely noticeable aerodynamic lip at the rim. Below there is a modest relief with stamping for a license plate, original large parking lights connected to each other with a chrome strip, as well as several nameplates giving information about a specific car instance.

The rear end is completed with a large bumper, consisting of two parts: the upper one, in the body color, contains original aerodynamic elements, while the lower one, created from black plastic, includes a decorative chrome line, a diffuser, and two flat exhaust pipes with chrome rolling.

Salon

The interior of the new 2021 Toyota Avalon model year is exceptionally convenient and comfortable, including due to the finishing with premium materials: wood, metals, two types of plastic and high-quality leather.

In the car, the entertainment system has improved, and the seats, although almost unchanged, retained the phenomenal comfort of landing and the ability to overcome even long distances with comfort.

Front end decoration

The center console looks stern and solid. Right in the center is a widescreen multimedia touchscreen display surrounded by air ducts. Below is the climate control control unit, and further, already on the tunnel, you can find a technical panel, organizers, a recess for recharging gadgets, as well as a wide armrest with an additional internal compartment.

The car has received a slightly redesigned digital instrument cluster, as well as a chic leather-trimmed steering wheel, a comfortable grip and more auxiliary buttons on the side spokes.

Seats and trunk

The luggage compartment with a capacity of 450 liters is hardly outstanding, but it should be enough for travel. But the seats, of which there are five in the car, provide the highest comfort due to high-quality finishing, soft filler and an abundance of additional options, including pronounced lateral support, heating, electric adjustments, as well as massage and ventilation — but only in «charged» versions.

Specifications

For the 2021 Toyota Avalon, petrol, gas, and hybrid power plants will be available. The base will use a 3.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 268 «horses».

The characteristics of a gas engine are more interesting: with the same volume, it will already give out 301 power. A hybrid unit with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine will show a total of 216 hp.

The transmission of the novelty will depend on the engine: either a full-fledged automatic machine or a variator. In addition, the buyer will be able to choose the type of drive: either front-wheel drive or all at once.

As the test drive showed, the car will be able to quickly pick up speed and cope with most obstacles both in the city and on the highway. True, one can not even dream of low fuel consumption here.

Options and prices

The starting price of the car will approach 37 thousand US dollars. For the most expensive configurations with all-wheel drive, it will be necessary to pay almost 46 thousand units of the American currency.

Competitors

Among the main rivals of the Japanese woman are representatives of the German «big three»: Mercedes E-class, BMW of the fifth series, and also Audi A6. In addition, Hyundai Genesis and Volvo S80 are quite close to the new product.
