For the presented SUV Toyota Land Cruiser 300, they announced a pseudo-sports version with the GR Sport prefix in the name.

Details about it are still few, although it is expected that in terms of technology, such an option will hardly differ significantly from a conventional car.

Judging by the first photos of the new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport, from the outside it can be recognized by a different black mesh radiator grille, black wheel rims of a special design, redesigned bumpers, protective linings on the wheel arches made of unpainted plastic and black mirror housings.

There are no images of the interior of such an SUV yet, but it is possible that an exclusive color scheme for the upholstery of the seats and the corresponding nameplates have been prepared for the GR Sport modification.

It is also possible that the manufacturer will offer special suspension settings, but the engines will remain completely standard.

Recall that the new TLC 300 has lost its V8 engines, so from now on it will have a 3.4-liter gasoline V6 with dual supercharging with a capacity of 415 hp. (650 Nm), as well as a 299-horsepower (in some markets 309 hp) diesel engine with a volume of 3.3 liters developed jointly with Mazda.

Both are paired with a ten-band automatic transmission.

The photographs show this car at the same time in severe off-road conditions and on a gravel road, and it is on the latter, apparently, that this «sport variant» is intended to demonstrate its excellent dynamic characteristics.

However, the Japanese made it clear that the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser GR-Sport will receive a standard V6 gasoline engine, which is installed on ordinary SUVs.

This can only mean that, in addition to external attributes, such a car will differ from the usual LC300, except perhaps in other settings for the suspension and driving electronics.

Overview

In the expensive trim levels of the Land Cruiser 300, which receive electronically controlled shock absorbers, there is a Multi Terrain driving mode selection system, which is engaged in reconfiguring the suspension, as well as brakes and engine operating parameters.

The driver just needs to turn the handle on the front panel, which, depending on the road conditions, will make the car more stable and steerable on sand, mud, stones or in deep snow.

The fifth mode is called Auto, and it can be called universal. In addition, the list of electronic «assistants» includes the Crawl Control system, which helps to pass sharp turns at high speed.

Its work consists in automatic braking of the inner wheels in relation to turning.

Of course, locking front, center and rear differentials will play an important role in overcoming the rough terrain on the new Land Cruiser 300 GR-Sport.

Exterior

It will not be difficult to recognize the Land Cruiser 300 GR-Sport in the heavy traffic: the sports version is equipped with a black grille with mesh filling, has a black edging of headlights and a black front bumper, decorated with a decorative strip «like metal».

The «dark theme» is also supported by the black side mirror housings, tinted head optics and unpainted plastic that runs along the perimeter of the wheel arches.

The brutal image is further emphasized by the original rims — of course, also black.

Salon

The developers did not provide photos of the Toyota Land Cruiser GR-Sport interior, but even there you can expect a light decor.

Perhaps, the «sporty» character of the car will also be emphasized by special front seats with more expressive lateral support, which helps the driver to feel comfortable during «fast cornering», and door sills with an engraved «GR-Sport».

More serious changes should not be expected, although nothing will prevent the Japanese from offering original graphics for displays — the main multimedia and color screen of the trip computer.

The very same tidy, as you know, on the «three hundredth» remained analog.

Specifications and filling

Toyota has prepared only two motors for its new product in 2021, so which one will be chosen for the «charged» SUV is easy to guess.

It will be a petrol 3.4-liter «six» with a capacity of 415 liters. with., equipped with a double turbocharger.

The same is installed on the Lexus LS 500, and together with a 10-speed automatic and the Crawl Control system, the function of which additionally includes ensuring smooth but fast acceleration, this power unit is quite capable of accelerating a massive SUV to 100 km / h in just 6, 8 seconds.

Recall that the second engine is a 3.3-liter V6 diesel with 299 hp. from. (later there will be a modification for 309 liters. from.), which is also equipped with an «automatic», but its dynamics is clearly inferior to the gas engine.

Sales start in Russia

In Russia, the sports modification GR-Sport will appear a month later than the classic SUV Toyota Land Cruiser 300. Prices will be announced shortly.
