The 2021 Toyota Sequoia is considered one of the «old-timers» of the modern market. The car, both externally and internally, has remained virtually unchanged for over ten years.
However, the Japanese SUV outperforms its direct competitors Chevrolet Tahoe and Nissan Patrol (Armada) in a number of ways, both of which have recently been deeply redesigned.
Sequoia, estimated at a minimum of 3.73 million rubles, is equipped with only one naturally-aspirated 5.7-liter engine, combined with all-wheel drive and automatic transmission.
The Japanese model is available in 7- and 8-seater versions and offers a multimedia complex, a touchscreen monitor and a proprietary security complex in the «base».
Optional ventilated front seats, leather seats and other options are available for the SUV.
Options and prices
Like the pre-reform versions, the 2021 Toyota Sequoia never received a new body. Although, judging by the official photos, the manufacturer slightly modified the exterior design, making subtle changes to it.
The focus of the latest modernization has been on the SUV trim levels, which have been increased in number.
At the same time, base prices increased slightly. The technical characteristics of the Japanese model remained the same.
SR5
The basic version of the 2021 Toyota Sequoia is available at a price of 3.73 million rubles. The manufacturer included in this amount:

This modification came along with the latest Toyota Sequoia update. This version of the SUV is priced at a minimum of 3.94 million rubles and offers a variety of decorative elements, such as a black radiator grille or special door sills, exhaust pipes and pedals.
In the interior of an SUV, instead of eight seats, 7 are installed with two separate seats on the second row.
The list of onboard equipment for this modification does not differ from what the base one offers. The only exceptions are the uniquely designed 20-inch wheels.
Limited
The 2021 Toyota Sequoia in the Limited version costs 4.42 million rubles.
In this configuration, an electric tailgate with memory function, electrically adjustable heated front seats, leather-trimmed seats, sun blinds for the second and third rows become standard.
The multimedia complex in this configuration is replenished with premium acoustics with 12 speakers and two 9-inch touch monitors, which are installed at the back and are offered for an additional fee.
TRD Pro
The TRD Pro package is estimated at 4.79 million rubles. It also includes special linings, decorative inserts and other elements that make the Japanese SUV stand out.
Among the features of this configuration is the fact that the standard front seats are replaced by sports ones.
On the second row, separate electric seats are installed, which automatically move back, allowing free access to the back.
The TRD Pro package contains more expensive premium acoustics, combined with a navigation system and 14 speakers.
In addition, the electric drive of the exterior mirrors and seats of the first row is supplemented with a memory function.
Platinum
The 2021 Toyota Sequoia in the top-end version costs 5.17 million rubles. This modification comes standard with two 9-inch touchscreen monitors with wireless headphones, ventilation for the front seats, perforated leather seats and electric heating for the rear rows.
Specifications
The main feature of the Japanese SUV is hidden under its body. Sequoia is based on:
front double wishbone suspension;

The car is equipped with only a 5.7-liter naturally aspirated engine, which can be found on the Lexus LX570 in Russia.
The declared maximum output of this unit reaches 381 hp. with a torque of 544 N * m. Only a 6-speed automatic transmission can be purchased with the base engine.
Also, with the Japanese SUV, a permanent all-wheel drive with a lockable interaxle limited slip differential is offered.
The total length of the model reaches 5210 mm with a wheelbase of 3099 mm. The width is 2029 mm, the height is 1956 mm.
Handling and off-road performance
The Sequoia is a very large vehicle, which makes it extremely sluggish in urban use.
However, the owners of the Japanese model note the high-quality steering gear settings, which ensure comfortable control of such a large SUV.
Also, the advantages of the Japanese model include the suspension, which neutralizes most of the road bumps.
The Sequoia is at its best after driving off the tarmac.
The integrated all-wheel drive in combination with on-board electronics contributes to free movement even in difficult off-road conditions.
The car successfully overcomes deep fords thanks to its 224 mm ground clearance.
When the wheels slip, the traction control system is activated. Also included with the SUV is equipment that prevents the body from skidding.
It should be noted that the Sequoia looks worse off-road than the Land Cruiser 200.
The latter has more differentials and electronics, making it easier to drive in difficult conditions.
Service costs
Sequoia is one of the ten most reliable cars in the world. According to research, an SUV will serve its owner for more than 15 years.
In many respects, such characteristics are provided by an extremely reliable engine that does not require repair for 500 thousand kilometers.
A little earlier you will have to restore the automatic transmission. However, even these works, due to the relatively simple design of the gearbox, will cost a small amount.
Even for the replacement of the checkpoint, you will have to pay about 50 thousand rubles. Suspension and all-wheel drive transmission are considered to be no less hardy.
In fact, these components only require regular maintenance. On average, its owners spend 150 thousand rubles annually on the operation of a Japanese model.
