«Warmed» electric car Volkswagen ID.4 GTX: now with four-wheel drive.

At the end of April 2021, the Germans presented the Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV in a «heated» version called «GTX».

By the way, the automaker will henceforth use this index to designate the most powerful versions of electric cars.

Outside, the novelty can be recognized by slightly different bumpers, as well as additional LED lights in the side sections of the front bumper.

The interior of such a car is characterized by dark upholstery (other versions have a light interior) with red stitching and the same lighting.

Compared to other versions, the new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX 2021-2022 already has two electric motors, that is, it is the first all-wheel drive version of the model.

In technical terms, the crossover is largely unified with the related Skoda Enyaq iV RS.

A standard 204-horsepower engine is installed on its rear axle, but the additional motor in front is slightly weaker.

It is reported that the total output of these units is 299 hp. (the mentioned Skoda — 306 forces).

Moreover, in the maximum performance mode, they can work for only 30 seconds, after which the electronics forcibly reduce their recoil.

The all-wheel drive SUV is capable of accelerating from zero to hundreds in 6.2 seconds, and its maximum speed is electronically limited to 180 km / h.

Electric motors are powered for their operation from a 77 kWh battery.

According to the WLPT cycle, the latter should be enough for about 480 km of run.

Another feature of the twin-engine modification is the reconfigured suspension, although there are no major differences from the base model here.

In the European market, the all-wheel drive VW ID.4 GTX will debut in the summer of the twenty-first at a price of 50,400 euros (about 4.5 million rubles at the current exchange rate).

The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX crossover brought all-wheel drive to the gamut.

The Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV entered the market in several versions, but all of them have only rear-wheel drive with one electric motor.

The first four-wheel drive modification has arrived just now — this is the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX.

Moreover, such a crossover is positioned as a «hot» model, and the GTX prefix will henceforth become an indicator of the most powerful and driver electric vehicles of the company along with the already familiar GTI (for gasoline cars), GTD (for diesel) and GTE (for hybrids) indices.

In terms of technology, the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is almost identical to the related Skoda Enyaq iV RS crossover.

The rear axle has the same 204 hp electric motor as the younger versions, and the second motor drives the front wheels.

But the total power of the Volkswagen is for some reason less than that of the Skoda: 299 hp. against 306 hp Moreover, this indicator is available only for 30 seconds, after which the electric motors reduce the recoil.

The independent suspension has been reconfigured, but there are no major differences.

The GTX version can accelerate to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds, the top speed is limited to 180 km / h.

A full charge of a standard 77 kWh battery should be enough for about 480 km on a WLTP cycle.

The outside of the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX differs from the rear-wheel drive versions by slightly modified bumpers, although they are not easy to identify.

And the most obvious sign is the additional LED light in the side sections of the front bumper. Inside, there is a dark finish instead of a light one, red stitching on the seats and standard red lighting.

The all-wheel drive GTX version will hit the European market this summer. The price in Germany is at least 50,400 euros.

For comparison: the petrol Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TSI (245 hp), capable of gaining a “hundred” in 6.0 s, here costs from 45,800 euros.
