By tradition, let’s start with the trolley. The change of generation often means that the model has moved to a new platform. Here the scenario is similar.
If the predecessor was based on PQ35, then the «seven» has already embarked on a modular MQB, which, of course, entailed a slight increase in price, but not significant (if you focus on the dollar equivalent).

Naturally, no one will conduct any hybridization in our market, so we have a clean ICE with a simple trolley layout: a standard pair of MacPherson struts and multi-link, disc brakes (front with ventilation), front-wheel drive, anti-lock brakes and stabilization.

Two units will act as a motor. The presence of one or the other will be due to the configuration, which by the way will be three.
The first two will receive a 1.6-liter gasoline aspirated with 4-cylinder in-line architecture and distributed injection. Return 110 hp at 155 Hm.

He will make a pair, either a 5-speed manual or a 6-band automatic (in the database for an extra charge or nominally in the Respect kit).

The second engine with a smaller volume — 1.4 liters, but for that it gets a turbocharger and direct injection. Power increases to 150 hp. at 250 Hm. The mechanics are no longer paired and a non-alternative machine is offered.

Both engines are designed to meet EU environmental standards and fit into Euro 6 standards.
As for the dynamics, depending on the engine, acceleration in the VW Jetta will be 11.3 or 8.9 seconds, respectively. The maximum speed also varies from 191 to 210 km / h. Consumption in the city of 8.8-9.5 liters of the 95th.

Now for the equipment. For Russia, announced three trim levels. Let’s consider them in more detail:
The basic version of Origin receives LED optics, heated and electrically adjustable side mirrors, a 6.5-inch multimedia screen with support for mobile services, air conditioning, heated front seats, a cruise, a tire pressure sensor and 6 airbags (2 for knees). Wheels — 16-inch alloy wheels;

The Status package is equipped with adaptive optics, an artificial leather interior, an electric driver’s seat, a virtual dashboard, a navigation system, an adaptive cruise and 17-inch alloys.

An optional package is also included, including a panoramic roof, driver fatigue monitoring and electronic light control, for which you will have to pay about 75,000 rubles.

Appearance

Thanks to the transition to a new platform, the VW Jetta has grown quite well in size, which has benefited her.
Due to new decorative elements and amendments to the silhouette, the sedan began to look more representative.

The front is now equipped with new optics and an enlarged false grate; the lights and the lower body kit, which received new exhaust tips, have also been replaced at the rear.
On the side you can find other stamped ribs. According to the concern, these changes have improved the aerodynamic drag to 0.27.

Salon

The cabin also shows updated ergonomics and higher cost of lining materials. The torpedo received a more angular shape and is now focused on the driver.

The touchscreen of the multimedia is entered more competently than before, the virtual tidy shines with a new interface, the multi-wheel has got metal overlays.

The only thing that can cause dissatisfaction is the central tunnel. This design is more suitable for Polo, but not for a car that is almost twice as expensive, but the rear sofa will please with interesting ergonomics and a folding armrest.

Competitors

Although Jetta often sets the trend, the transition to a new platform has further strengthened the gap between similar models of other brands. In general, it is worth saying that the Asian industry is increasingly crowding European manufacturers.

So, a car enthusiast can pay attention to the Hyundai Elantra, Kia Cerato, Toyota Corolla or the Czech Skoda Octavia, which will cost less and have the equipment no worse.
