Volkswagen T-Roc 2022.

The German company will show the facelifted model at the end of this year. The update will also affect the open-top version.

Sales of the Volkswagen T-Roc compact crossover started in Europe in the second half of 2017, the «hotter» version — the T-Roc R — was shown in February 2019, and the open-top version appeared in the spring of 2020.

At the end of last year, the model was sold in the old world market with a circulation of 158 638 units, which is 23.7% less than a year earlier.

Such a serious decline can be explained not only by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, but also by the fact that brand fans are waiting for the model to be updated.

Volkswagen intends to introduce a refreshed T-Roc at the end of 2021, and it will go on sale in the first half of 2022.

There is no official information yet on what changes the crossover will receive.

So the artists have the opportunity to fantasize about what the «refreshed» model of the German brand will become.

The designer of the Spanish edition presented his vision of the facelift T-Roc.

Judging by the render, the crossover will retain the design and rectangular shape of the head optics, but at the same time it will have small protrusions directed towards the front fenders.

LED daytime running lights are likely to be integrated into the headlights: they are expected to blend in with the thin chrome stripes of the other grille.

The modified front bumper also integrates thin LED strips on both sides.

The Volkswagen T-Roc is likely to receive fewer changes during the feed update.

The taillights are expected to look slightly different. In addition, the Germans are likely to redesign the rear bumper by reforming the lower section with integrated tailpipes.

As noted in the publication, one of the main drawbacks will probably be corrected in the cabin: we are talking about hard plastic, which is used to trim the doors and dashboard. In addition, the manufacturer is likely to expand the list of equipment in the updated T-Roc with modern driver assistants.

There is no official information on the «stuffing» of the novelty yet.

According to preliminary data, the engine range will remain the same, the engine power will not change.

At the same time, VW is implementing a number of measures to reduce consumption and CO2 emissions of engines for all versions.

We previously reported that the T-Roc may have a hybrid version.

Recall that the engine range of the current «regular» crossover includes a 1.0-liter three-cylinder TSI with 115 hp. and a pair of 1.6 and 2.0 liter diesels with 115 and 150 hp. respectively.

The T-Roc convertible has no diesel engines in its lineup, but it does have a 150-horsepower four-cylinder 1.5 TSI.

The «charged» T-Roc R has a two-liter petrol «turbo four» of the EA888 family with a capacity of 300 hp under the hood. (400 Nm), this engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission.
