Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line 2022. The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is in many ways the reference crossover in its class, which is guided, for example, when evaluating the characteristics of the Hyundai Tucson or Mazda CX-5.

The German model, as part of the latest modernization, underwent subtle changes, which, however, had a positive effect on its driving performance and handling.

In Russia, the updated crossover is offered at a price of 1.88 million rubles with four engines: in our country, 2 modifications of turbocharged engines with a volume of 1.4 and 2 liters are available.

The Tiguan is also optionally equipped with a plug-in all-wheel drive.

Already in the initial version, you can find climatic equipment, cruise control and a heated leather steering wheel, while in the top versions there are a system for keeping the distance to neighboring cars in traffic jams, a steering gear with a gear ratio and other equipment.

Specifications

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan underwent, in fact, a point restyling, which brought with it a new body. But visually, judging by the photo, this crossover is not much different from its predecessor.

Volkswagen has also slightly adjusted the equipment and prices. However, the technical characteristics of the German model remained the same.

The crossover still has the same MQB platform, providing for the placement of McPhrson struts and a rear multi-link architecture.

But in the course of the latest modernization, the dimensions of the Tiguan have changed. Now its length is 4509 mm, width — 1839 mm, height — 1675 mm. The wheelbase is 2677 mm.

By default, the German model in Russia is presented along with a 1.4-liter supercharged engine, which is available in two versions.

As a standard, this unit produces no more than 125 hp. power and 200 N * m of thrust. The engine in this version is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission, consumes up to 6.5 liters of fuel and provides acceleration to 100 km / h in 10.5 seconds.

In other versions, the base unit already produces 150 hp. and 250 N * m.

In this case, the motor is combined with a 7-speed two-disk robotic gearbox, consumes up to 6.8 liters and provides acceleration to 100 km / h in 9.8 seconds.

Optionally, such an engine is combined with a plug-in all-wheel drive, realized through a multi-plate clutch.

In more expensive modifications, a second supercharged engine with a volume of 2 liters appears.

It is equipped with four-wheel drive and a robotic gearbox by default. As a standard, this unit produces up to 180 hp. net power and 320 N * m tractive torque.

A Tiguan with this engine develops 100 km / h in 8.1 seconds and consumes an average of 8 liters.

In the top-end modification, a 220-horsepower turbine unit appears with a maximum thrust of 350 N * m. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds with an average fuel consumption of 8.4 liters.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan is presented in Russia in six trim levels.

Prices for modifications of the German model vary within one million rubles, which is due to a significant difference in the list of on-board equipment, which varies depending on the version chosen.

R-Line

The top-end Tiguan will cost a minimum of 2.72 million rubles.

The R-Line version stands out from the previous ones not only by the original aerodynamic body kit, but also by the fact that only with it you can purchase a 220-horsepower turbo engine.

In addition, the top-end configuration includes adaptive cruise control, electric front seats with memory functions, 19-inch wheels and leather-upholstered seats.

Design

In the course of the latest modernization, Volkswagen carried out rather cosmetic repairs, making several point, but noticeable changes to the body structure.

Perhaps the main innovation was the appearance of head optics with different graphics, formed due to the appearance of C-shaped LED strips.

The Tiguan’s radiator grille now looks more like the one on the Touareg. The front bumper of the mid-size crossover has been replenished with side cutouts, which are placed at a large angle.

Because of this, the fog lights built into it seem to look down.

The taillights have also changed the graphics, and the aft bumper has been supplemented with a metal insert that forms a perimeter for the outlet of the exhaust pipes.

The interior design of the Tiguan has undergone less noticeable changes. All improvements mainly concerned finishing materials.

As before, the Tiguan retains many of the physical controls for the onboard electronics, despite the introduction of a digital instrument cluster and an oversized touchscreen monitor.

The comfort level of the German model also strongly depends on the type of equipment selected. In particular, this is especially noticeable in the versions in which sports front seats appear.
