How much is the new Volvo XC40 2021 in Russia: according to the official dealer’s website, the price of the model varies from 2,550,000 to 3,450,000 rubles.

In our market, the compact premium crossover is sold in four trim levels: Base, Momentum, Inscriptior and R-Design.

The line of Volvo XC40 power units on the Russian market is represented by two-liter turbo-fours — two gasoline and two diesel, all of which have an eight-band automatic.

The initial versions can be front-wheel drive, but the more powerful ones come straight from the full.

In the basic configuration, the crossover has 17-inch wheels, ABS, ESP, seven airbags, LED headlights, an autonomous preheater (available for diesel cars, and for gasoline cars it comes at a surcharge), an audio system, light and rain sensors, engine start with a button, climate -control, multimedia system with 9.0-inch touchscreen display, front and rear power windows, heated seats and electrically adjustable heated mirrors.

The next version of the Momentum boasts 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as rear parking sensors and OEM navigation.

The Inscription all-terrain vehicle is equipped with 19-inch wheels, while its other features include leather upholstery and electric front seats with memory parameters.

As for the top-end R-Design equipment, its main feature is the sporty exterior and interior decor.

Compared to the previous version, the equipment of such a car is slightly more modest: there is no electric drive of the front seats.

Specifications

The new 2021 Volvo XC40 is the first model from the Swedish brand built on the Compact Modular Architecture (or simply CMA) platform.

This «bogie» is characterized by the transverse arrangement of the engine, as well as the widespread use of high-strength grades of steel in the body structure.

Independent suspensions are used on both axles of the crossover, with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link design at the rear.

At the same time, for a surcharge, the car can be ordered with sports or adaptive suspension. Ventilated disc brakes are installed on all wheels.

The most affordable modifications are front-wheel drive, and the more expensive options are full. The latter is realized through the Haldex electro-hydraulic clutch, which is responsible for connecting the rear axle.

The default boot capacity of the model is 479 liters, and with the rear seats folded down — 1,639 liters. All versions of the crossover are equipped with a 54-liter fuel tank.

The curb weight of the car directly depends on the specific configuration and varies in the range from 1 603 to 1740 kg.

The line of power units of the 2021 Volvo XC40 model year consists of two diesel and two gasoline turbo engines, which work with an uncontested eight-speed automatic.

The basic version of the D3 is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 150 hp. and 320 Nm. Such a crossover can be both front- and all-wheel drive.

The single-wheel drive version is capable of accelerating from zero to hundred in 10.2 seconds, while the four-wheel drive version is slightly slower at 10.4 seconds. The maximum speed in both cases is 200 km / h.

The more advanced diesel version of the D4 also has a two-liter engine, but with a recoil of 190 forces (400 Nm). This modification (as well as all subsequent ones) in the base is all-wheel drive.

Acceleration from 0-100 km / h is possible here in 7.9 seconds, and the maximum speed is declared at 210 km / h.

The initial petrol version is the T4 variant, equipped with a 2.0-liter engine with 190 horsepower and 300 Nm.

From a place to a hundred, the crossover accelerates in 8.5 seconds, reaching speeds of up to 210 kilometers per hour.

The top-end T5 modification is equipped with a two-liter gasoline engine with a return of 249 «horses» and 350 Nm of torque.

To accelerate from 0-100 km / h, such an off-road vehicle requires 6.5 seconds, and its maximum speed is 230 km / h.

As you can see, the speed indicators of the Volvo XC40 in the new body largely depend directly on the chosen engine, but even the most productive versions do not really want to drive.

The compact Swedish crossover has a quiet and comfortable ride.

It keeps a straight line perfectly and does not roll too much when passing sharp turns. Of course, it is possible to play in the «forty», but such trips do not bring excitement.

The fact is that at very high speeds the model shows some out of sync: the crossover chassis reacts to taxiing with a slight delay.

As for the suspension, on medium (18-inch) wheels, the car drives smoothly, not noticing small bumps and pits under the wheels, although larger potholes are still transmitted to the interior.

On a dirt road and conditional off-road conditions, the Volvo X C 40 is also very good, while in terms of geometric cross-country ability, the model of the Swedish brand is practically unmatched in its class.

The new Volvo XC40 2021 is characterized by a high seating position and comfortable front seats. However, the pillow of the latter could be more authentic. Attention is drawn to the large touchscreen of the multimedia system. It pleases the eye with bright and clear graphics, but its menu is far from intuitive.

The Swedes were especially unsuccessful in placing the functions of heated seats and climate control, which is why the driver has to be distracted from the road. Despite its compact size, the second row of the crossover is quite spacious, and even people with a height of 180 cm can comfortably accommodate here.However, it is better to ride in the back together. We would like to praise the Swedes for the excellent organization of the workspace.

The compact interior of the Volvo XC40 has plenty of storage space for small items. There are huge pockets in the doors, and an impressive compartment in the central tunnel, and a pull-out tray under the driver’s seat. What’s more, the cabin even has a portable trash can and a bag hook on the glove compartment lid.
