Aston Martin V12 Speedster 2021: road fighter without windshield.

Aston Martin continues to develop its aviation-related winged series of models, with its most iconic model debuting this week, the V12 Speedster, a two-seater supercar with a unique carbon fiber body without a roof or windshield.

Aston Martin’s previous flirtations with aviation in the Wings Series have been limited to the exclusive decor of existing models: in this format, the Vanquish S Red Arrows Edition, Vantage Blades Edition, V12 Vantage S Spitfire 80 and DBS Superleggera Concorde have been embroidered.

But the V12 Speedster is a special case: in terms of technology, this is a composite hodgepodge of units and assemblies from the Vantage and DBS Superleggera models, but the body is completely original, made of carbon fiber and painted in the corporate color of the American F / A-18 carrier-based fighter, for which it was received Boeing approval.

References to the famous winged car in the form of decals can also be found on the sills and the central bulkhead separating the driver’s and passenger’s seats.

CFRP helmets, without which driving such a car can be a deadly attraction, are stored in undulating fairings behind individual safety arches.

The rear spoiler is very original, elegantly integrated into the body and incorporating the lights. 21-inch forged wheels are attached to the hubs with one central nut.

Their thin spokes reveal 410mm carbon ceramic brakes at the front and 360mm at the rear.

The cockpit design of the V12 Speedster uses a whole collection of original details that other Aston Martin models do not have: a leather trunk with red fastening strips in place of the glove compartment, decorative straps on the central tunnel and in the door handles, metal vertically oriented air ducts and the like.

Instead of a windshield, two individual carbon fiber visors are installed, directing air over the heads of the riders.

In case of rain, the multimedia system screen will be covered by the same central partition between the seats.

Under the hood is a 5.2-liter V12 biturbo engine (700 hp, 753 Nm) common to the top Aston Martin models, docked with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, all power is supplied to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential.

The specially designed stainless steel exhaust system for this model emits a particularly dramatic growl.

The Aston Martin V12 Speedster accelerates to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 300 km / h.

In total, Aston Martin intends to produce 88 copies of the V12 Speedster model, costing £ 765 each, with the first cars ordered by customers early next year.

I would like to believe that due to the shaky financial situation of Aston Martin, the V12 Speedster will not suffer the same fate as the four-door Rapide E, the serial production of which had to be canceled after the announcement.
