Plans for «greening» Aston Martin: the first electric car will appear in 2025.

The British company told about the new development strategy of Racing.Green.

It assumes that in 2026 electrified versions of cars will be in all families.

Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, 2020 was a difficult year for many automakers, and this is partly true for those involved in the development and production of luxury cars, in particular for Aston Martin.

Thus, during the specified period dealers of the British brand sold 1,638 copies in Europe (by 36.8% less than in the previous year).

According to the results of 2021, the clients bought 1979 cars, which is 20,8% more.

Like many other global companies, Aston Martin thinks about «greening» its own model range.

Earlier it was supposed that electric cars would be produced under a separate sub-brand — Lagonda, however, in the spring of the last year it became known that the manufacturer decided to curtail the project.

However, it has not abandoned its plans to produce electrified and fully «green» cars.

Aston Martin told about further plan of development within the framework of the presentation of the strategy, which was called Racing.Green.

It is worth reminding that the brand already has a car that took away the «title» of the first hybrid (without an opportunity to connect to an electric network) — we are speaking about the hypercar Aston Martin Valkyrie.
However, this model was a small-series one.

In the future, the company intends to release a serial rechargeable hybrid — its role, according to the new strategy will be played by the Aston Martin Valhalla with middle motor configuration.

This novelty, which the company presented last summer, will be on sale in 2024.

We shall remind, at the heart of Valhalla hybrid installation is located a 4,0-liter «twin-turbo engine» V8 (developed by Mercedes-AMG), its efficiency makes 750 hp. (located on the rear axle).

It works in tandem with two electric motors, their combined output is 204 hp.

The eight-speed automatic DCT with two clutches (one of the electric motors is integrated into it) is offered as a pair.

The cumulative output of this system is 950 hp and the maximum torque is 1,000 Nm.

According to the plan of Racing.Green, in 2025 the first all-electric car will appear in the Aston Martin lineup.

As it was supposed earlier, it can be an heir of the DB11. Besides, in 2026, all families of the brand will receive electrified versions.

It is also stated in the strategy that by 2030, the range of models in its entirety will consist exclusively of rechargeable hybrids or electric cars.

Racing.Green. assumes also that in the current year on the roof of the company in South Wales will be installed 14 thousand solar panels, they will be able to generate 6.4 MW of electricity, which will cover one-fifth of the needs of the plant.

It should be noted that the production of Aston Martin DBX crossovers is established here: the sales of this model in Europe started in August 2020; in total, up to February 2022, dealers sold 1,091 copies.
