Audi e-tron 55 2022.

Audi continues to update its e-tron range of electric vehicles. This time we are talking about the e-tron 55 crossover.

This car has gained extra range thanks to a software update.

It opens up 12 miles (20 km) range for the 95 kWh version of the electric crossover.

The Audi e-tron is one of the first electric crossovers on the market, it was born back in 2018, and is now in the middle of its life cycle.

In this regard, the German brand is preparing a planned update of the car (planned for the second half of 2022), which will slightly «tighten» its characteristics.

The most important innovation will be a new generation battery, due to which the mileage on a single charge will grow.

There are no exact figures yet, but it is planned that the range of the Audi e-tron 2022 will be more than 600 km.

For comparison, now the range of the Audi electric crossover is 436 km according to the WLTP cycle.

We note that this is the first update from Audi for the e-tron electric crossover, which directly affects its driving range.

At the same time, it is not installed «by air». For its activation it is necessary to address in a service center of the German company.

At the same time, the update itself, as well as its installation, are absolutely free.

After installation, the 2019 and 2020 e-tron 55 quattro versions will be able to drive about 20 more kilometers without recharging.

As a result, the official mileage of the car will be 441 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.

The update only applies to 55 models with a battery of this size.

At the same time, it will not be possible to install it on cars in the modifications e-tron 50 quattro and e-tron 55 Sportback.

Audi was able to achieve an increase in range by increasing the usable battery capacity of the car.

This is combined with a software update that allows for more efficient disconnection of the electric motor from the front axle of the car.

In fact, the motor remains disconnected from the transmission until maximum power is required.

Until then, the e-tron 55 quattro version can be considered rear-wheel drive.

A software update also makes the cooling of the various electrical components more efficient.

At the same time, the maximum charging power will remain the same — 150 kW. Therefore, when connected to a fast recharge, it is possible to replenish the battery reserve up to 80% in just 30 minutes.

Now there are two more electric cars in the manufacturer’s lineup — the subcompact Q4 e-tron and fastback e-tron GT.

Both models, by the way, entered the market only this year.
