The serial crossover Audi Q4 e-tron debuted with two body types.
So the Audi company has connected to the use of the «junior» electric platform MEB of the Volkswagen concern.

The new crossover Audi Q4 e-tron is the closest relative of the Volkswagen ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq iV models: they are extremely unified technically, but the body, interior and all settings from Audi, of course, are their own.

Moreover, the model with four rings is presented with two body types at once — the coupe-like Sportback made the company to the standard station wagon, while in the ID.4 and Enyaq models this version is still at the stage of fine-tuning.

As follows from the index, the size of the new crossover is located between the Q3 and Q5 models. Its length is 4588 mm versus 4484 mm for the third and 4663 mm for the fifth. Width (1865 mm), height (1632 mm) and wheelbase (2764 mm) are also in the «middle of the range».

The coupe-like Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron with a sloped stern differs in height: 1614 mm. But a more streamlined body made it possible to significantly reduce the drag coefficient Cx: 0.26 versus 0.28 for a standard crossover.

Instead of a radiator grill, a dull imitation is installed, and a real air intake is located at the bottom of the bumper.

LED headlights are already «in the base», for a surcharge a matrix head light is offered, and in the on-board system menu you can change the «pattern» of running lights: there are four options to choose from. Wheels with a diameter of 19 to 21 inches are offered.

As a reminder, the basic version of the MEB platform has one electric motor on the rear axle.

That is, the Q4 e-tron is the first mass-produced Audi model with rear-wheel drive! After all, Audi R8 RWD supercars are produced in small quantities, and the pre-war models of the classic layout did not differ in large quantities.

The chassis has McPherson struts at the front and a multi-link at the rear. Traditionally, the company has prepared several suspension options: in addition to the standard one, there is a «sport» one with a 15 mm lower ground clearance (included in the S line package) and an adaptive one.

A variable pitch steering gear is also available as an option (standard for all-wheel drive versions). At the same time, drum brakes are installed on the rear axle!

The developers said that in terms of interior space, the electric Audi Q4 is on par with larger gasoline or diesel crossovers.

The MEB platform made it possible to make a flat floor and give more space to the front riders, shifting the climate system closer to the nose of the car. However, for this, it was necessary to sacrifice the front rack, which many electric vehicles have.

In the work on the interior, the designers applied several unusual solutions. For example, this is a two-level center console: the transmission control panel is located on the upper floor, and the wireless charger for the smartphone is located on the lower one.

And additional holders for liter bottles appeared in the doors, and not in the lower pockets, but at the level of the armrests.

10.25 » VIs are standard (there are three display modes). The media system can have a touchscreen of 10.1 or 11.6 inches (depending on the level of equipment), as well as voice control, which can be activated by the phrase «Hey, Audi».

Finally, for a surcharge, a head-up display with augmented reality function is provided: visually, it seems that graphic prompts are hovering over the road about ten meters in front of the car.

This is the first Audi model to feature touch-sensitive steering wheel controls. At the same time, the climate control unit is equipped with traditional hardware keys.

Initial seat upholstery options are 45-50% recyclable (like recycled plastic bottles), but nappa leather is still available. Finally, a central airbag is installed between the front seats, which prevents riders from colliding in an accident.

The rows of seats are arranged in an amphitheater: the rear one is seven centimeters higher than the front one.

The backrest of the rear sofa is already «in the base» divided into three parts in a ratio of 40:20:40. And in terms of trunk volume, the electric Audi Q4 is comparable to the traditional Q5 model: 520 liters under the shelf, and in the coupe Sportback — even 535 liters.

With the rear seats folded down, the compartment holds 1490 liters or 1460 liters, respectively.

Even the basic Audi Q4 35 e-tron in running order weighs 1890 kg, of which 350 kg comes from the lithium-ion traction battery with a capacity of 52 kWh (operating voltage — 352 volts), and almost 100 kg — from its aluminum case. integrated into the body structure.

Such a rear-wheel drive crossover has an electric motor with a return of 170 hp. and 310 Nm. The acceleration time to «hundreds» is 9.0 s, the maximum speed is programmatically limited to 160 km / h.

The standard crossover can travel 341 km on a single charge on the WLTP cycle, and the more streamlined Sportback 349 km.

For some reason, the «average» modification of the Audi Q4 40 e-tron is presented only with a basic station wagon. This is the longest-range option: a full charge of a 77 kWh battery should be enough for 520 km.

Electric motor power increased to 204 hp. (torque has not changed), acceleration time to 100 km / h — 8.5 s, maximum speed — 160 km / h.

The all-wheel drive Audi Q4 50 e-tron quattro is available in two body styles. The second electric motor is installed on the front axle, but it is connected only when necessary, so by default this crossover also has only rear-wheel drive.

Peak output — 299 hp and 460 Nm. Acceleration to «hundreds» takes 6.2 seconds, the maximum speed is increased to 180 km / h. A 77 kWh battery should be enough for 488 km for a standard station wagon and 497 km for a Sportback.

«Ku-fourth» can be charged both from a household outlet and from DC terminals with a capacity of up to 125 kW. In the second case, in ten minutes, the battery can take a charge for a run of 130 km.

The equipment also has adaptive cruise control with accompanying assistants.

The Audi Q4 e-tron will be produced at the same plant in Zwickau, Germany, where the Volkswagen ID.4 is made.

In Germany, the start of sales is scheduled for June, but the prices are already known. The standard crossover starts at € 41,900 and the Sportback starts at € 43,900.
