Russian news agency TASS, citing its sources from the Ekaterinburg exhibition «Innoprom-2022» reported that the domestic company Aurus began testing the serial versions of electric bikes Aurus Merlon 2024.

It should be noted that the development of this two-wheeled vehicle was done by FGUP NAMI, which not so long ago was tasked with the development of the revived Moskvich.

Generally, the first Aurus Merlon was shown back in March 2021, but this time the model has received a more detailed and production-ready design.

It is reported that this design is still not final, but even if it will change it will not radically affect its appearance, as they (the changes) will be spotty.

The main feature of the Aurus Merlon is that it was created from scratch by Russian specialists on a Russian platform.

This bike belongs to the heavy motorcycles and, to all appearances, its main purpose will be an escort.

So, it would be extremely problematic to buy it for personal purposes. Merlon is powered by a single electric motor with 190 horsepower, which allows you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

It turned out that a pilot batch of bikes has been recently assembled. These motorcycles have already begun a full cycle of tests.

The model allegedly has an approved exterior design, which means it will not be changed again on its way to production.

By the way, back in the twenty-first, a side trailer with an aerodynamic cover and a horizontal lantern almost full width was patented for the motorcycle.

First of all, Aurus Merlon is designed to accompany motorcades of dignitaries, but there will be other versions in the range, including those for the Interior Ministry and Emergencies Ministry.

Besides, the bike will be available for sale as a civilian version.

As for the technical features, the Merlon has an electric propulsion system with a 190 hp motor.

It is able to accelerate from a place to a hundred in 3.7 seconds and its top speed is about 200 km/h.

Cruising range is claimed to be 200 km. According to the developers, electric bike will operate even at sub-zero temperatures, namely up to -25 degrees Celsius.

For Russia, it is not unimportant. It was previously reported that the bike will be put into production in 2022-2023.

There is no new information on this yet, but exclude the possibility of deferring production at a later date is still not worth it.
