It’s official: the launch of Bentley’s first electric car has been postponed until 2026.
Bentley is now seeking to develop and produce its first all-electric car.
About $3 billion has been invested in the project. Development and future production will take place in the UK.
Initially, the official launch of the car was scheduled for 2025, but the company’s CEO said that the event has been postponed to 2026.
The head of the brand said the delay will be a few months, not a full year.
Surprisingly, this event has nothing to do with the fact that the Volkswagen Group is currently experiencing problems with the supply of necessary software for its future electric models.
Recall that it was previously reported that the company Cariad, which is engaged in the development of all the necessary equipment, is not on schedule for the project Artemis.
Porsche, Audi and Bentley models will be built as part of this strategy.
The past president of the VW Group was even fired because of such problems. His place will be taken by Porsche CEO Oliver Blum.
Most likely, Audi’s first electric car on the new SSP platform will also be postponed, possibly until 2027.
For now, all we can say is that when the British brand releases its first electric model, it will immediately become the flagship of the company’s entire lineup.
However, it will not be considered as a replacement for the Mulsanne. According to information, one version of the electric car will cost more than 250,000 euros (15,250,000 rubles).
The electric powertrain will develop about 1,400 horsepower, and acceleration to the first «hundred» will take only 1.5 seconds.
