BMW M5 2021: new body.

Less than a month after the debut of the new BMW 5 Series, the two most powerful versions of the family — the BMW M5 and BMW M5 Competition 2020-2021 — were released. «Emki» were transformed in the likeness of the basic machines and basically kept the old equipment.

They will go on sale along with the usual «fives» in July this year. On the German market, the new BMW M5 is priced at 120,900 euros, the BMW M5 Competence — at 129,900 euros.

In Russia, only the Competition version will be presented, but in two trim levels at once. The initial version offers at a price of 8,650,000 rubles, for the performance of M Special they ask for 9,850,000 rubles. The rise in price relative to pre-reform cars amounted to more than 300 thousand rubles.

Body design of new models

Restyled «emki» of the F90 series outwardly almost do not differ from the standard «five». In the presence of the same optics with L-shaped sections of the running lights, enlarged «nostrils» of the radiator grill, large side air intakes.

The stern is designed in a similar way, however, the exhaust here is made in the form of two twin pipes along the edges of the bumper, and the diffuser in the middle has a slightly different shape.

The 2020 BMW M5 Competition looks slightly more aggressive than the regular M5 thanks to the black decorative elements.

A false radiator, fender flares, mirror housings and a spoiler crowning the trunk lid receive a glossy black finish. The exhaust pipes are black chrome plated.

In the course of the update, the range of body colors of the models was expanded. Five new shades have been added: Brands Hatch Gray, Motegi Red, Tanzanite Blue II, Aventurine Red II and Frozen Bluestone. There are also new 20-inch rims in Orbit Gray design. They are borrowed from the two-door BMW M8.

The interior of the new BMW M5 and BMW M5 Competence has been improved by analogy with the base BMW 5 Series. As a result of restyling, «emki» got a virtual instrument cluster and a media center display with a diagonal of 12.3 inches (before it was 10.25 inches). The list of equipment also includes heated steering wheel and seats, head-up display, Harman Kardon acoustics.

The standard interior material is Merino leather.

On the central tunnel, sedans have two new keys: one is responsible for the settings of the on-board systems, the second — M Mode — for the choice of driving mode.

The BMW M5 has two pre-installed programs — Road and Sport, while the more powerful Competition version is also endowed with the Track preset.

Changing the driving mode affects not only the operation of the auxiliary electronics, but also the graphics of the instrument panel and head-up display.

Road mode means that all available assistance systems are involved, and the displays show the usual picture of the fifth series with instrument scales.

Activating the Sport program turns off some of the assistants (mainly those that intervene in the braking system and steering) and switches the screens to M View mode.

Now purely sporting information is displayed on the dashboard and head-up display — engine speed, selected gear, optimal gear change times.

Track mode is intended exclusively for racing tracks. His choice leads to the deactivation of all comfort and safety systems, plus the audio system and the central multimedia screen are turned off.

The sedan turns into a real racing car, capable of giving an indescribable feeling of drive.
