The Bugatti Centodieci retrospective hypercar is ready for production: from 8 million euros apiece!

Bugatti has announced the completion of tests of the 1600 hp Centodieci hypercar with a design based on the iconic Bugatti EB110 from the first half of the 90s.

Only 10 examples will be produced and all of them will be shipped to customers by the end of this year.

Bugatti Centodieci prototype premiered in 2019, this model was timed to the 110th anniversary of Bugatti (the company was founded in 1909), the name Centodieci means «one hundred and ten» in Italian, and design refers to one of the most prominent supercars of the 90s — Bugatti EB110, which got its name in honor of the 110th anniversary of the founder Ettore Bugatti.

The Bugatti EB110 debuted in 1991 and was equipped with a 3.5-liter V12 engine with four turbochargers, which produced from 560 to 610 hp depending on the modification.

The basic version climbed the first «hundred» for 3.26 seconds, the maximum speed — over 350 km/h.

Even today, these figures are impressive, and 30 years ago, they seemed fantastic.

Technical basis of the Centodieci is a well-known hypercar Chiron, but the external bodywork (including lighting equipment) of the Centodieci is completely original, made in the EB110 style.

The new design and new aerodynamics required a full set of bench aerodynamic and driving tests, the last cycle recently held at the Italian high-speed circuit in Nardo, whose outer perimeter allows any modern road car to accelerate to maximum speed.

The Bugatti Centodieci has a top speed of 380 km/h, which is 40 km/h less than the standard Chiron, but the acceleration capabilities of the two related models are identical: acceleration to 100 km/h takes 2.4 seconds, to 200 km/h — 6.1 seconds, to 300 km/h — 13.1 seconds.

The 8.0-liter W16 engine with four turbochargers at the Centodieci produces a maximum of 1600 hp, which is 100 hp more than the standard Chiron.

The gearbox is a seven-speed automatic DCT type (with two clutches). All-wheel drive only.

The Bugatti factory in French Molsheim will produce only ten examples of the Centodieci by the end of this year, each of them cost over 8 million euros, while the base Chiron cost 2.4 million euros.

Such a large surcharge is due to exclusivity and the need for additional engineering and testing.

Meanwhile, the original Chiron has actually already left the scene — in October last year Bugatti announced the assembly of the last batch of 40 copies, and the total run of the model was 500 pieces.

In turn, the Centodieci is the last of the derivatives based on the Chiron, that is, after the completion of its production, the Chiron platform will probably be completely a thing of the past.

The track Bugatti Bolide, recall, has a completely unique body, the production of this model is scheduled for 2024.

Last July Bugatti announced its merger with the Croatian company Rimac, the merger was completed in November.

The new Bugatti-Rimac is 55 percent owned by the Rimac Group and 45 percent by Porsche.

The new Bugatti models will have hybrid and all-electric powertrains, but will not be clones of Rimac models.

It is not yet known when the first all-new model from Bugatti-Rimac will appear.
