The BYD Han DM-i hybrid sedan has gone on sale for 5.2 million rubles.

Car enthusiasts have got an opportunity to buy a Chinese sedan BYD Han DM-i with a hybrid power plant.

The model is available in stock and on order from a car dealer in the capital.

The flagship of the BYD automobile concern is on sale in Moscow. It goes into production in 2020.

The letter DM in the name can be deciphered as Dual Mode. This indicates the presence of a hybrid unit of the third generation.

BYD Han DM-i is based on the technology of Japanese concerns Honda and Mitsubishi.

The novelty has front drive and is propelled by one and a half liter petrol engine with efficiency of 139 hp.

It is paired with a 197-horsepower electric motor. The Blade’s battery has a capacity of 37.5 kWh.

Without recharging the model will drive 121 kilometers in pure electric mode. The total range is 1,300 kilometers.

The spacious interior boasts comfortable passenger seats, quality finishing materials and modern driving assistants.

The model’s list of features includes intelligent cruise control with lane keeping function on the roadway, a traffic sign recognition option, and a premium Dynaudio stereo system.

The DM-i (Dual Mode intelligent) hybrid powertrain was introduced by BYD a year ago and has already begun installing it on some models.

The hybrid system is made on the model of Mitsubishi or Honda and can operate in both sequential and parallel modes.

Under the hood is a 1.5 turbo engine (139 hp), but most of the time it is silenced or runs in generator mode to recharge the traction battery.

The BYD Han DM-i is driven mainly on electric traction: an electric motor with 197 hp rotates the front wheels and an engine with 218 hp on the rear axle. In total — 415 hp.

Only in exceptional cases, the hybrid system switches to parallel mode: the engine is connected to the front drive wheels with a clutch and a single-stage reduction gear. There is no gearbox here.

Lithium-iron phosphate battery Blade series is located under the floor of the cabin, its capacity is 37.5 kW∙h against the 15.2 kW∙h of the Han DM model, and it can be charged from the outlet.

It is claimed that in pure electric mode, this sedan will drive 242 km, and the total range with a full tank and charged battery — 1300 km on the old NEDC cycle.

Average fuel consumption in hybrid mode is 4.2 l/100 km.

The release of new hybrid versions is timed to coincide with the restyling of the model. BYD Han DM-i has gained new bumpers, another grille and taillights with a «braided» pattern.

The new trim has increased the length of the sedan by 15 mm, up to 4975 mm. The fast DM-p version differs only in other wheels, tires and more powerful brakes.

Interior is almost unchanged, there is still a rotary screen media system with a diagonal of 15.6 inches, virtual instruments (12.3 inches) and a minimum of buttons.

But the range of trim materials has been expanded, including new nappa leather options for the seats.

The adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping system has been upgraded and is now called DiPilot.

The new hybrid sedans will go on sale before the end of spring. Prices have not yet been announced, but the DM-p version will definitely be the most expensive in the entire Han family.
