BYD’s luxury frame SUV debuted along with an unannounced supercar.

The all-terrain vehicle is still presented as a four-engine electric car, and a rechargeable hybrid version is also promised.

But there is almost no information about the sports car. Only acceleration time up to a «hundred» is declared — an impressive 2 seconds.

In November last year, «celestial» concern BYD announced the creation of a new sub-brand, which will produce luxurious electrified models (by the way, the company does not make cars with internal combustion engines only).

The local name of the brand is Yangwang, from Latinized Chinese to Russian it can be translated as «look up».

Firstborn will be a brutal SUV, previously known under the internal index R1.

And today, January 5, the almost ready-for-production car was shown — already under the brand name U8.

And the new brand arranged a surprise: together with the SUV presented a supercar U9, which had not previously been announced. Let’s start with the all-terrain vehicle.

Yangwang U8 has a frame construction. Chinese write that the length of the SUV is 5.3 meters, width exceeds two meters and the wheelbase is equal to 3.05 meters.

If the data is correct, then its dimensions SUV surpassed Toyota Land Cruiser 300.

Features of exterior design — X-shaped front end, consisting of a lot of diode rhombuses running lights, giant taillights with a similar pattern and additional L-shaped sections (the same «elks» are on top) and retractable door handles.

The three «humps» above the windshield are apparently cameras and lidar. Also the car has two hatches, the model «stands» on 20-inch wheels.

The brand Yangwang has not declassified the interior. Shown at the presentation the windows were tinted.

However, spies earlier managed to look into the interior: U8 will get a virtual dashboard, which seems to be combined with a giant vertical touchscreen multimedia system (together they form something like the letter L).

So far, a purely «green» version with four individually controlled electric motors has been presented, but Chinese media reports that the SUV will also be available as a rechargeable hybrid, although there is no information on the installation of this version yet.

It is announced that each electric motor is capable of producing 299-326 hp and 320-420 Nm, and the total output exceeds 1,100 hp. About the battery it is said only that it is from Blade family.

The first «hundred» electric Yangwang U8 allegedly will gain in 3 seconds.

In addition, this «eight» will be able to turn on the spot and move diagonally (like a GMC Hummer EV), plus in the case of a tire blowout electronics can distribute traction and level the car at speeds up to 120 km/h.

But there is almost no information about the supercar Yangwang U9. We only know that the model is also an electric car with four motors and that it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2 seconds.

As for the exterior, the «nine» received the «butterfly wing» type doors and fin-stabilizer.

Sports car also received headlights, consisting of a lot of LED «strokes»: this design solution the Chinese called the «starry sky».

It is assumed that the SUV Yangwang U8 will be on sale this year, the model is predicted a price tag of 116,000 — 218,000 dollars.

But whether the supercar Yangwang U9 will reach dealers is still unknown. It is not excluded that it is created to demonstrate capabilities of the new brand.
