Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar 2023.

Cadillac has built a Project GTP Hypercar sports prototype for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Cadillac has unveiled its first racing hypercar in 20 years.

The Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar LMDh class sports prototype premiered in June of the twenty-second year.

This is the joint brainchild of Cadillac Design and Cadillac Racing divisions.

Plus the Dallara company also took part in the project. The exterior of the car is made in a modern corporate style Cadillac, with most of the solutions borrowed from the flagship electric car brand — Celestiq.

American concern Cadillac has presented a prototype under the name Project GTP (Grand Touring Prototype).

This name refers to the IMSA racing series, in which the new model will be presented.

Concern said that it will take part in race races in Europe. The last time this brand’s models took part in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans races twenty years ago.

The prototype model is created by the concern together with Dallara company, specializing in racing platforms.

Exclusively for the car developed a brand new 5.5-liter V8 engine. It will be paired with electrified «superstructure» with racing characteristics.

At the moment this is all the details about the new model.

The developers decided to pay more attention to the exterior of the Project GTP. The model is designed in accordance with the company’s style.

In particular, the sports car has a characteristic shape of the head part and vertically located headlights, which visually resemble similar components of mass brand models.

Outside the presented bolide immediately attracts attention with spectacular vertical sections of headlights and lights.

Curiously, the Americans made the body panels of shredded and compressed carbon fiber.

As for technology, the Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar 2023 is based on the Dallara chassis.

It is powered by a hybrid power plant based on a new 5.5-liter V8 engine with two overhead camshafts.

The prototype version will continue to be tested on the track. Cadillac Project GTP’s premiere show is scheduled for January this year.

While the developers do not advertise the total performance of the racing model, but according to the regulations it cannot exceed 680 hp with a vehicle weight of 1,030 kg.

Since the 2023 season, the sports prototype will compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar championship.

And also it will allow Cadillac to finally return to the marathon «24 Hours of Le Mans» which the Americans took part in for the last time already 20 years ago.

It will be organized during daily races at Daytona. But already in 2024 the concern will take part in the European endurance racing championship «24 Hours of Le Mans».
