Chevrolet Blazer EV: an electric version of the Blazer has been introduced.

Chevrolet introduced an electric version of the Blazer crossover.

The novelty is prefixed with the prefix «EV» in the name and has a number of fundamental differences from the conventional (gasoline) model.

These SUVs differ from each other even visually.

For example, the battery-powered car has a plug instead of grille, and there are ventilation holes behind the front fenders.

The stern of the EV variant has other lights with «fangs» and, of course, there are no exhaust system spigots.

In addition, each model has a number of unique features.

Thus, the base crossover has LED headlights and 19-inch wheels, although the versions more expensive rollers are already 21″.

Exactly the top version (RS) can be distinguished by an expanded decor and presence of luminous strip between the headlights.

The latter has an animation mode and is able to show the current battery charge.

Well, the flagship model (SS) attracts attention with an aggressive bodykit and 22-inch wheels.

It has sports suspension and front brakes Brembo.

The model has a strictly five-seater interior. There is an 11.0-inch digital dashboard and 17.7-inch multimedia display with «over the air» update function.

You can order a full-size screen in the cabin mirror, which displays the picture from the rearview camera for extra charge.

Other options include ventilation of front seats, heated rear sofa and projection display.

Like the conventional gasoline model, the electric Chevrolet Blazer EV 2023 is 4.9 meters long, but is built on a separate Ultim platform.

The last one was developed by GM specifically for battery-powered cars. By the way, Cadillac Lyric, Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Hummer EV are already based on it.

It is known that the presented crossover has an impressive wheelbase, but its exact value is not disclosed.

The car is equipped with independent suspension, and the main load-bearing element in its design is the frame of the traction battery.

It is located between the axles, and strong sub-frames are attached to it in the front and rear.

Curiously, the new Blazer EV has become the first model on the Ultim platform, which received three drive options at once.

Thus, its base version LT1 has a single electric motor installed on the front axle.

Unfortunately, its power is not advertised. Capacity of the traction battery is unknown, but the range allegedly reaches 398 km.

Next comes the 2LT version, which can have front or all-wheel drive.

The claimed range without recharging is 472 km. There is also RS version, which can be ordered with front, rear and all-wheel drive, its range is 515 km.

Well, the flagship of the line is a modification SS (Super Sport). There is much more information about it — it is an all-wheel drive crossover with two electric motors (front and rear).

When you activate the extreme WOW (Wide Open Watts) preset, the total output of the units reaches 565 hp (879 Nm). Acceleration from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) is possible in less than 4.0 seconds and range is 467 km.

By the way, on the basis of the top version a full-fledged police car — Blazer EV PPV (Police Pursuit Vehicle) is also being developed.

It will be equipped with simple steel wheels and a ram at the front. The Pursuit Vehicle will be available with both rear and all-wheel drive.

Interestingly, all modifications have the same chargers: AC charger here is 11.5 kWh, while DC charger is 190 kW.

In addition, all electric Blazers have a one-pedal driving mode, where acceleration and deceleration are regulated solely from the gas pedal.

Starting the crossover is done with a regular press on the brake pedal, but there is no standard Start-Stop button here.

In turn, the right paddle lever is used to switch the modes of transmission, and the degree of regeneration can be adjusted from the only paddle on the left.

For a surcharge, the model can be equipped with an autopilot Super Cruise. It has the second level of autonomy and allows driving «without hands» on American and Canadian highways.

It has already been approved for use on 640,000 km of local roads. The electric Blazer will be produced in the same place as the usual one, that is at a plant in Mexico.

In the U.S., taking orders for the new model has already started, but on the market it will not come soon.

It is known the first cars will appear at dealers only in the summer of 1923, and it will be 2LT and RS versions.

The first of them costs from $47,600 (2.7 million rubles), and the second — from $52,000 (2.9 million rubles).

By the next fall, the flagship SS-version with a price tag from $66,000 (3.7 million rubles), and the basic 1LT-version buyers will have to wait until the twenty-fourth — it will be possible to buy for $45,000 (2.5 million rubles).
