Chevrolet Equinox 2021: a successful crossover with a new interpretation.

In 2021, the mid-size crossover «Chevrolet» of the Equinox series was in high demand among American motorists.

To consolidate commercial success, the manufacturer has implemented a restyling of last year’s model range, which will enter the Chinese market under the name Chevrolet Equinox 2021.

Judging by the reviews and comments, the new model has retained the design and layout solutions of its predecessor. The modernization has identified itself with changes in the body decor, technical equipment of the cabin and the parameters of the power unit.

Testing has confirmed the high operational potential of the novelty; the car is equally adapted for everyday transport needs, as well as for various types of active, including tourist, recreation.

Exterior

From all angles, the 2021 Equinox looks stylish, expressive and a little brutal due to the large number of bright decorative chrome plating characteristic of Chinese cars.

The design of the front side of the building attracted great interest of the visitors of the presentation. In stock:

complemented by ribbed longitudinal reliefs, a slightly sloping hood;

a trapezium of the radiator cladding decorated with a massive silver semi-perimeter and overlays of transverse lamellas;

narrow small-sized blocks of head xenon optics.

The front end is standard equipped with air diffusers integrated into the sidewalls of a powerful bumper and marked with ribbed reliefs, a vertical arrangement of navigation lights, as well as a narrow horizontal grille of the ventilation air intake.

The composition of the front end is completed by a protective and decorative plastic body kit.

In the photo in profile projection, the new crossover body shows chrome rails of an inclined aerodynamic roof, contrast of chrome window sills with matte black double-glazed pillars, elongated mirrors and stepped body longitudinal reliefs.

The status of a cross-country vehicle reminds of itself by the presence of short overhangs, high off-road clearance and a plastic protective «skirt» fixed along the lower perimeter of the body.

The crossover cosmetic upgrade did not bring anything new to the stern design.

In the new generation, the Chevrolet Equinox 2021 model continues to attract attention with the familiar combination of a spoiler and a sloping window, an interesting branded graphics of lamps and a deep embossed texture of the vertical tailgate.

The stern configuration also includes a wide bumper, supplemented with a protective and decorative plastic strip, fog lampshades and a figured body kit with a cutout for a large-caliber exhaust pipe.

Interior

A positive perception of the five-seater, the most comfortable for its class salon generates a high quality of component materials for the finishing range, ergonomics of instrumentation and seats.

In the equipment of the front panel, the classic design of the instrument panel is proposed, consisting of analog indicators of a digital computer display and a two-story layout of the center console.

The 8-inch display located between the vertical deflectors provides media and entertainment functionality, and is also responsible for activating the comfort-forming standard options.

Some of the command analog buttons are placed on the front plane of the semi-sports multifunction steering wheel.

The composition of the tunnel includes a transmission lever, organizers and an armrest, under which there is a spacious volume of a mini-refrigerator.

The spacious body design provides the driver and four passengers with plenty of individual space.

Perfectly profiled and equipped with side bolsters, the driver and side passenger seats offer a nominal set of electrified adjustments, heated and ventilated seats.

A sofa, hospitable in all respects, with a folding armrest can accommodate three adult riders with all the conveniences.

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the boot volume of the 846-liter trunk. The transformation of the rear row seats allows this figure to be increased to 1,798 liters.

The spare wheel located under the curtain in the floor recess does not affect the spaciousness of the compartment.

The new items include advanced characteristics of technical equipment and electronics, including a multimedia and audio complex, navigation systems, climate control, assistants and active safety systems.

Specifications

Dimensions in a proportional ratio of 4652 x 1843 and 1661 mm, as well as a wheelbase of 2725 mm and a 200 mm ground clearance, the mid-size SUV Chevrolet Equinox 2021 inherited from its predecessor unchanged.

Equipped with a stabilizer bar, disc brakes and road safety circuits, the undercarriage is adapted to the mounting and layout features of the D2XX / D2UX front-wheel drive platform.

The comfort of overcoming problem areas of the road is provided by the effective MacPhersonian suspension of the front driving axle and multi-link — the rear driven axle.

The crossover offers a choice of two petrol in-line «fours» with operating parameters: 1.5 l / 170 hp / 275 N • m peak thrust and 2 l / 252 hp / 355 N • m.

The test drive confirmed the acceleration time to 100 km / h 6.5-8.8 seconds, maximum speed 195-225 km / h, fuel consumption per hundred run up to 8.8 and 9.5 liters.

Options and prices

In the European crossover market, the new 2021 Chevrolet Equinox model year is initially promised in an uncontested base modification. The declared price in dollar terms is slightly more than 24 thousand USD.
