Chrysler Pacifica 2022.

Chrysler is going to upgrade the Pacifica: all-wheel drive will be an option.

Previously, the model has been out of production for quite a long time due to production problems. Now the American brand is preparing its minivan for the 2022 model year.

Chrysler brand now belongs to auto giant Stellantis, which was formed earlier this year as a result of a merger between FCA and PSA Group.

The brand has had a continuous «minus» in its home market since 2016. At the end of «covid» 2020, dealers sold 110,464 cars in the U.S., which is 13% less than the year before.

For comparison, customers bought 324,846 units during 2015, and the top year for the brand remains 2005 (almost 650,000 cars were sold).

This year, the market is recovering from the crisis, so the brand is «plus»: 58,637 cars were sold in the first half, which is 33.3% more than in January-June 2020.

The Pacifica minivan’s performance in the home market has been declining for a couple of years. Thus, in 2020, the model sold 93,802 copies (4% less than a year earlier).

In the current year, the car still has a positive trend: in January-June 47,571 units were sold in the States. (33.6% more than in the first six months).

Chrysler has been experiencing production problems over the past several months: at one point, production of the Pacifica at its Windsor assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, was temporarily halted due to a shortage of parts.

The company noted that demand for the minivan is still high, now they are preparing a variant of the Pacifica 2022 model year.

It is reported that after the update, the top versions of the model in the standard version will come with front-wheel drive and AWD system will be an option.

It is assumed that this will allow the manufacturer to make the price of a minivan with a rich level of equipment more affordable.

Foreign media called such a step quite justified, because many customers do not need all-wheel drive.

Curiously, it appeared in the Pacifica only last year, and then it was reported that at the request of users who did not want to change over to crossovers.

According to the publication MoparInsiders, the starting price tag of the basic front-wheel drive Chrysler Pacifica 2022 model year will be $ 48,320 (the equivalent of about 3.52 million rubles at current exchange rates).

The variant with AWD will probably cost $50,915 (about 3.71 million rubles).

The richest version of the minivan with FWD is expected to cost $52,775 (about 3.85 million rubles), and with a four-wheel drive system — at least $55,370 (about 4.04 million rubles).

During the upgrade by 2022, all cars will receive a special «winter package,» which will be included in the list of standard equipment.

It includes heated driver and front passenger seats, as well as a heated steering wheel. Other features, including safety systems, will be added to different versions.
