Citroen C5 Aircross 2022: updated appearance and interior, but the same “stuffing”

The premiere of the updated SUV Citroen C5 Aircross took place in Europe.

During restyling, the model received a modified front end in a fresh X-face corporate style.

The latter implies that the DRL LED strips in the headlights are visually connected to each other by means of a dotted line.

By the way, such a design decision visually made the “face” somewhat wider.

The taillights of the SUV retained the old housings, but at the same time received a three-dimensional light pattern, plus the car got new wheels and a changed color palette.

In particular, if the pre-reform model had bright contrasting accents “in a circle”, then the restyled one has a much more strict dark decor.

Of the changes in the cabin, it is worth noting the redesigned center console with a tunnel.

A widescreen 10.0-inch “tablet” is used here as a multimedia device (as on the Citroen C4), while the car previously relied on a built-in 8.0-inch monitor.

But the 12.3-inch tidy remained the same, but the French abandoned the massive handle of the automatic transmission selector in favor of a miniature e-Toggle switch.

Driving presets are now controlled from a compact key.

At the same time, the configuration of the central tunnel on the Citroen C5 Aircross 2022 has been seriously revised.

In particular, the developers managed to increase the box for small things. The car also received new Advanced Comfort seats (15 mm thicker than the old ones).

Additionally, in the cabin, the finishing materials and their color were revised.

In technical terms, the French crossover has not changed at all.

The European range of powertrains still consists of a 1.2-liter petrol “turbo engine” and a 1.5-liter turbodiesel.

Both are rated at 131 hp. The petrol engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a manual transmission is also offered for the diesel.

The drive of these versions is exclusively front. The SUV also has a rechargeable hybrid modification, which was in high demand before restyling (it accounted for about 30% of sales).

A 1.6-liter turbo four with 181 hp is installed on the front axle, and a 110-horsepower electric motor is installed on the rear axle.

The total output of these units reaches 225 “horses”, while a car can drive up to 55 kilometers on one electric traction.

In the showrooms of European dealers, the restyled Citroen C5 Aircross 2022 will appear at the end of the first quarter of the twenty-second, and outside the Old World — a little later (including in Russia).

It is expected that the current generation of the crossover will last on the assembly line until the twenty-fifth.
