Ford F-150 by Roush Performance 2023. Bargain horses: a new upgrade for the Ford F-150 from Roush Performance.

The current 14th generation Ford F-150 debuted in 2020, but only now has legendary tuner Roush Performance offered an inexpensive compressor upgrade for it: for just $8,650, the power of the stock naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 is increased by more than 75%.

Last summer, the top version of the Raptor R appeared in the Ford F-150 range with a modified chassis and a 5.2-liter Predator supercharged V8, delivering a maximum of 710 hp. and 868 Nm, such a super pickup costs from $109,145.

A regular Ford F-150 with a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 (405 hp, 556 Nm) starts at $37,925, and you can now add a Roush compressor upgrade for $8,650 to get Raptor R-like performance for less than half the price of the latter!

The kit includes the proven 2.65-liter Roush TVS R2650 grinder, intercooler with large coolant tank, crankshaft damper, new spark plugs to reduce the risk of detonation, and a new control program.

The maximum output of the engine eventually increases to 715 hp. and 861 Nm. Installation can be done independently in the garage, but, of course, qualifications are needed — the procedure will take about 16 hours.

It is easier and more reliable for a small fee to entrust the installation of a compressor upgrade to an authorized dealer.

A ten-speed hydromechanical «automatic» does not require any intervention.

Of course, a workhorse Ford with a compressor from Roush will not be able to gallop through sand dunes and gullies as famously as the Raptor R, which is comprehensively prepared for these fun, but in traffic light races, a small investment in an upgrade will more than justify itself.

Meanwhile, earlier in February, Roush Performance offered a comprehensive package of improvements for the 2023 Ford F-150 that does not affect the powertrain, that is, it can be ordered along with a compressor upgrade.

The upgrade package is designed for XLT or Lariat pickups (others are not compatible), costs $19,000 and includes a new grille with parking lights, a hood with air vents, wheel arch extensions, a modified off-road suspension, an exhaust exhaust-sound manifold, 20-inch Roush wheels on 33-inch General Grabber A/TX tires, Roush badges and decals for the body and cockpit, Roush pedal covers, new instrument cluster graphics, Roush floor protection and other goodies .

For a surcharge, you can order Roush leather upholstery and an active valve exhaust system for even more dramatic sound.

Roush Performance warranties all of its modifications for 3 years or 36,000 miles (57,936 km).
