GAC Green Space 2022.

GAC has unveiled a luxury hydrogen minivan with a lounge saloon.

At the end of June twenty-second at a special event GAC Tech Day 2022, organized by the Chinese brand GAC, there was a presentation of a curious concept called «绿境SPACE», in which the first character translates as «green» and the second as «territory».

The show car is a luxury minivan whose design is supposedly inspired by ancient Chinese architecture and traditional Shan Shui landscape painting depicting mountains and water.

The car has a futuristic body design with LED headlights, large wheels and a vertical pattern in front imitating the grille.

According to the idea of Chinese stylists, this design resembles a waterfall.

By the way, there is a vertical ornament on the stern, but already in the upper part.

Access to the passenger side of the cabin is provided by a huge lift-up door, opening vertically upwards.

The interior itself is made in the form of a cozy living room.

Inside there are two chairs, a sofa and a tea table sliding out of the floor.

As for technology, the show car is driven by a hybrid power plant Julang Hybrid.

It consists of a 1.5-liter hydrogen piston engine, multi-stage electro-mechanical transmission (analog of Toyota THS-II) and a battery with a combined thermoregulation system (air and refrigerant).

Essentially the GAC Space Concept is a series-parallel hybrid, which is charged from the network and can move on electric power for a long time.

It is reported that thermal efficiency of hydrogen engine is 44%, due to which the minivan consumes only 0.84 kg of hydrogen per 100 kilometers.

According to the developers, the engine has already passed all the tests and even continuously worked more than 12,000 hours, indicating its reliability.

However, GAC has no plans to produce hydrogen cars yet, though some of the solutions used in the concept will appear on commercial cars this year (for example, electromechanical transmission).
