Honda Vezel 2022 — hybrid SUV for Europe and Japan
In February, Japan’s Honda Corporation unveiled the new third generation of the Honda HR-V subcompact SUV.

In the Japanese market, the model is sold under the former name Honda Vezel. The European adaptation will go on sale with the HR-V prefix. Sales have already started in Japan. Later, Europe will see this updated SUV.

The architecture of the body and the stylistics of the interior of the European and Japanese versions is almost the same. The only difference is the right-hand drive position on the Honda Wesel, which is typical for Japan.

By design, the new model differs little from the previous generation. Changes have undergone the dimensions of the body and the geometry of the exterior elements. The salon was modernized, but as before, they left the minimalism inherent in the Japanese.

As stated earlier, the new generation Honda HR-V / Vezel is endowed with softer body lines. The heavily tilted rear window gives the car a coupé-like aesthetic.

In terms of dimensions, the SUV differs little from its predecessors Jazz and City, because it is based on a similar modular platform. The new car is slightly inferior to its predecessors in length, width, height.

The body is sleeker with the A-pillars moved back, the straightened window line and the leg-mounted exterior mirrors attached to the door trim.

To improve the aerodynamic properties of the new car, Honda turned to its research center in Sakura, the same one that develops engines for Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Alpha Tauri in Formula 1, for help.

Now the improved aerodynamics of the HR-V / Vezel are provided by air curtains on the front bumper, side moldings protruding outward, and a new shape of the rear spoiler.

Salon

The interior segment of the car received a minimalist tidy, equipped with a free-standing touch screen, a multimedia system.

L-shaped corner vents diffuse airflow from the air conditioner along the windshield and side windows to the roof for increased passenger comfort.

The new rear deflectors perform the same function. Continuing the review of developments that increase comfort, it is worth mentioning the enlarged panoramic roof made of special Low-E glass, which prevents the penetration of harmful, infrared and ultraviolet rays.

In comparison with the previous generation of the line, the observation hatch does not open here.

Despite the same wheelbase of 2,610 mm as before, Honda was able to implement its philosophy — «Maximum Man, Minimum Machine» and miraculously add an additional 35 mm of space between the rows of seats for the comfort of the rear passengers’ legs.

It is also even more comfortable thanks to the rear seats reclined by 2 mm. Other nifty features include sliding front sun visors, touch-sensitive lighting and an automatic tailgate.

The new HR-V SUV is equipped with Honda Connect infotainment system, which includes a range of services connected through the Honda Total Care Premium app.

These include a Wi-Fi hotspot in the cabin, an application center, automatic updates of navigation maps, a digital key for a smartphone. Also available on the e: HEV is a 7-inch instrument display and a ten-speaker audio system.

Among the electronic assistants, the Honda Sensing package with a front camera is implemented, which includes adaptive cruise control, an assistant for keeping the car within the lane, and other auxiliary functions.
