HYUNDAI will launch two affordable electric cars in Europe in 2024: they will be the successor to the I10.

The Korean Hyundai brand recently announced the development of an affordable electric car for Europe.

Its starting price does not exceed 20,000 euros (1,250,400 rubles). However, a new report suggests that another electric model is in the company’s plans.

It is reported that the first car will be introduced in mid-2023 and the second at the end of 2024.

It is expected that the two electric cars will be the successor to the Hyundai i10 and will be positioned as city cars.

We should also expect the Korean models to become competitors for the Volkswagen ID.1 and ID.2 along with the Cupra and Skoda models.

The VW Group also wants to set a starting price of no more than 20,000 euros.

The goal is for this price to be the absolute norm for this segment.

We do not yet have any information regarding the design of the two electric cars, but one should definitely be visually similar to the i10.

The second car will get a larger body and increased ground clearance and will look like a compact Hyundai Casper.

According to rumors, this crossover will get an all-electric version next year. It will serve as a base for two «green» models at once.

It is already known that they will use integrated iDM, which can develop up to 181 horsepower.

Such figures seem rather big for purely urban models, so engineers of the Korean brand will either reduce them, or leave such figures for the N Line.

The company realizes that such a segment will not bring in much money, so the new models will be built on an upgraded version of the K1 «bogie», which is now used in Hyundai and Kia cars.

We hope to see test prototypes of the electric cars soon to get more information about them.

Hyundai won’t stop selling cars with internal combustion engines in Europe until 2035, although most of its competitors will give up the good old combustion engine at the end of this decade or even earlier.

Meanwhile, the brand is moving forward with an onslaught of electric cars with the launch of the Tesla Model 3 Ioniq 6 competitor. In 2024, the big three-row Ioniq 7 SUV will follow suit.

Until something cheaper comes to market, car enthusiasts have to wait patiently.
