Hyundai Ioniq 5 2021.

The sub-brand Ioniq, owned by the South Korean company Hyundai, will appear on the Russian market in 2021. The Motor.ru edition writes about it with reference to the managing director of Hyundai in Russia Alexey Kalitsev.

Recall that in August Hyundai announced the creation of a new sub-brand Ioniq, under which all electric cars of the South Korean brand will be produced. So, in the coming years, she intends to present electric cars Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7.

Crossovers will go on sale under odd indexes, sedans under even ones. Hyundai noted that the cars of the new brand will combine ultra-fast charging, spacious interior, battery power and innovations of the future. All machines will be built on the E-GMP modular electrical platform.

The company is expected to launch the Ioniq 5 crossover early next year, which will be based on the 45 EV concept car unveiled last year.

In 2022, the Ioniq 6 sedan is slated to be launched, based on the Prophecy prototype. The company has not yet disclosed details about the large crossover Ioniq 7.

Kalitsev did not specify which model will be on sale in Russia, but based on Hyundai’s plans, it could only be the Ioniq 5. According to rumors, this electric car will be slightly larger than the Santa Fe crossover and will receive cameras instead of exterior mirrors.

It was also reported that the Ioniq 5 will be produced in versions with 58 and 73 kWh batteries, which will provide a range of 354 and 450 kilometers, respectively.

In September, Hyundai revealed the first concept image of the Ioniq electric vehicle interior. The company said in a statement that the salon was designed in cooperation with LG specialists.

The Concept Cabin project is based on the idea of ​​expanding the interior space and integrating some household appliances into the cabin.

Thus, the concept provides for equipping the cabin with a 77-inch curved OLED display on the ceiling, which can be used by two people at the same time.

In addition, the description refers to systems for cleaning clothes and shoes of passengers, a robot that cleans the cabin, as well as UV LED-lamps for disinfection. It is expected that some of the solutions described will be implemented in the cabin of the Ioniq 5 crossover.

Note that now a hatchback is produced under the Ioniq brand, which is equipped with both a hybrid and an all-electric power plant.

In December last year, it became known that Hyundai intends to invest $ 17 billion in the development of electric vehicles and self-driving cars over the next five years. In total, the company will invest about $ 52 billion in the development of new technologies.

Hyundai also expects to become one of the three world leaders in the production of battery and fuel cell vehicles by 2025 with an annual sales volume of 670 thousand vehicles (of which 560 thousand are electric vehicles).

In addition, the company plans to cut raw materials costs by $ 28.9 billion by 2022. Finally, Hyundai is considering developing flying cars.

Hyundai recently created a new sub-brand «Ioniq», under which the first electric vehicle is currently planned to be produced.

The company kept the technical characteristics and other details regarding this new product in the strictest confidence, but something went wrong and almost confidential information (by accident or on purpose) was leaked to the media.

According to available data, the electric car from Ioniq will be a mid-size crossover, with acceleration to the first hundred in 5.2 seconds, with a power reserve of 40 kilometers.

The rechargeable battery on quick charge reaches 80 percent in 15 minutes.

Experts noted that if this car also has an acceptable price, then it will clearly be difficult to deny its attractiveness.

Recall that last summer, during the presentation of the Ioniq sub-brand, an official representative of Hyundai noted that several electric cars will soon be produced under it.

The «first sign» will be the mid-size crossover. Apparently it is about him that we are talking about the information «merged» into the Network.

A few days later, Hyundai had no choice but to respond to the rumors and reacted by stating that it was all true that the Ioniq 5 electric crossover should be just that and even published a pre-order page in the public domain.

However, after a few minutes, she deleted the page, but its screenshot still got on the Web.

According to him, the name of the Ioniq crossover will have the number «5», an electric motor with a power of 230 kW will be installed under its hood.

The car will be four-wheel drive, 4.5 meters long, 1.6 meters high and 1.9 meters wide. The wheelbase is three meters long.

It is noteworthy that Hyundai previously reported on a two-way charging capable of providing everything needed for a new electric car, as well as some kind of «extraordinary experience», the essence of which remains a mystery.
