Hyundai Ioniq 5 N 2022: an electric parkcar with an unusual design.

Hyundai introduced a mid-sized electric crossover Ioniq 5 — the firstborn of the previously formed electric sub-brand «Ioniq».

Externally Hyundai Ioniq 5 was largely similar to the concept shown in nineteenth year Hyundai 45.

The Koreans themselves say that the electric car is made in a new design style «Parametric Dynamics».

The latter is characterized by the abundance of angular surfaces and sharp edges.

Presented model has a compact «pixel» LED-lights and headlights, voluminous hood, faceted chamfers on the sides and unusual pads on the wheel arches, the pattern of which visually repeats the aerodynamic design of 20-inch wheels.

Working on a five-seater model’s interior, Koreans were guided by the principle of «Living Space».

In other words, they tried to make the interior as comfortable as possible.

They gave the car an absolutely flat floor and trim made of eco-leather and materials obtained by recycling plastics (for example, PET-bottles).

To paint the components Koreans used only natural dyes. The front panel of the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 has two visually combined 12.0-inch display.

One of them is given to the needs of the instrument panel and has several modes of information display, and with the second control the multimedia system.

Also to please the driver is called projection display with the effect of augmented reality.

The front seats of the model have electrical adjustments, while their backs are made 30% thinner, which allowed to win a little space in the legs of rear passengers.

Note that the center console located between the front seats is called «Universal Island» and can be slid back by 140 mm, freeing up additional space on the first row.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 2022 is based on the new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

The overall length of the car is 4,635, wheelbase size is 3,000, width is 1,890 and height is 1,600.

The volume of the main (rear) trunk is claimed to be 531 liters, while the front boot is 57 liters (24 liters on the twin-engine version).

The electric crossover is offered with both one and two motors, plus customers will be able to order the car with a traction battery of 58 or 72.6 kWh.

The base version has a single electric motor with 168 hp. (350 Nm) that drives the rear wheels, as well as a 58 kWh battery.

Acceleration from a place to a hundred of this car is possible in 8.5 seconds.

A more advanced single-engine version has 217 horsepower (350 Nm) and a higher capacity battery.

Dynamics of this modification is not specified, but it is the most long-range one: its range reaches 480 kilometers (the cycle WLTP).

Dual all-wheel drive versions for Hyundai Ioniq 5 is also prepared a few, and the most powerful of them has the total output units at 302 hp and 605 Nm of torque.

Acceleration from 0-100 km/h here is possible in 5.2 seconds, the maximum speed of all modifications is limited to 185 km/h.

It is known that using 350-kilowatt charging station replenish traction battery of electric car from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes.

Thus, only five minutes of stay at such station is enough for a crossover to pass 100 km.

By the way, as an option, the customer will be able to order solar panels on the roof of the car, contributing to recharge the battery in clear weather.

In addition, the presented model boasts an innovative function V2L, through which the owners can recharge other devices (such as scooters, electric bikes or travel gear) from the car.

For this purpose, there is a separate outlet located behind the rear couch of the crossover. Of course, the new Hyundai Ionic 5 2022 is equipped with many different electronic assistants.

For example, the electric parkette became the first model of the South Korean brand to receive a new highway autopilot «Highway Driving Assist 2».

Buy an electric car will be available for about 35-40 thousand euros (from 3.1 to 3.6 million rubles at the current exchange rate).

It is noteworthy that the company decided to supply this model in Russia — the start of sales here is scheduled for the middle of 2022.
